Well that's a result! I'm not too sure about the ethics of being up on the deal, but there's not too much you can do about that.

The probable reason the bod was so keen to give you £175 (£12 more than you paid for it) is you seem to have overlooked the import duty and VAT you will have paid, and he would have to pay if he bought one on ebay.

How much was that import duty and VAT in the end? I don't remember you ever mentioning it.

£175 is still probably less than the actual cost (with duty) for him to buy a new one from ebay.

Didn’t have to pay any import duty at all so far Mike !

but I bought a mitt controller from China about 2 years ago.

about a month later I received a import duty bill, the import duty was somthing like £9, plus the their cost of £30 ish

i paid the duty, not the couriers admistrative costs.

  • 6 months later...

Just to wake up this thread again, I'm in the market for a new diesel air heater and ebay is AWASH with these Planar clones now.

I'm tempted to buy one to see what turns up, have a close look at it and see how well it works. Anyone else here bought and installed one yet?

Oh and I can't visit the real Planar site as Vodafone blocks it, saying infested with malware.

Hi Mike

yes the link above is very good

also search for Chinese diesel heaters there’s another site

very interesting, quite a few have installed them and have had no trouble.

i did NOT pay any duty what so ever

when it comes, it comes with everything, you can pay more and getting a better controller which is what I done.

i decided not to fit it, because I think you brought up is it kite marked

in the end I listened  to the forum at the time, and sold it.
