antifreeze for central heating system

The Screwfix own brand central heating antifreeze is what we have used for years in new installs and coolant changes but don't mix 50/50 like for engines, a 25% solution is better for carrying the heat and gives more than adequate protection. Goes under the name of Flomasta.

mix it thouroughly before adding.  Circulation in the radiators depends on a minute difference in density, due to temperature difference to get the flow.  Antifreeze, having a different density to water, can block this thermo-circulation if a wodge of antifreeze gets into one radiator.

If you do find that one radiator doesn't get hot, make a sort of funnel out of cooking foil and draw water out of the bleed screw into a jug, replacing it in the header tank until it gets mixed better and allows the thermo-circulation in the radiator to work.
