William Power
Hi all I have Cummins Diesels v8's 1969, Marinised by Parsons in 1970 and fitted by Van Lent to my boat in 1971,so its a mix. The engine mounts are original and have sat down more than a little. Hence some vibration. Would anybody recognise these mounts or recommend suitable replacements ? BEngo
To pick the right engine mounting you really need to know the load on each engine mount- if the set-up is well designed this will be the same on each and it will be 1/4 of the mass of the engine plus gearbox. In many cases though the load on the back two is greater because they support the back of the engine and the box.. A set of cheap bathroom scales is a good way of measuring, if you can get them in under each foot in turn. 1 Kg weight is equal to roughly 10 daN and most mounts are sized in daN or N. 1 daN=10N. Then somewhere like https://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/Products/Marine_Mounts should be able to help. Google Anti Vibration Mounts and you may find a supplier your side of the water.
