On a moment of impulse I have just bought this unpainted can.

Other than rusting on the wire of the carrying handle, it seems to be in good order.

Substantially heavier than the (not so) cheap tat from the Black Country Metalworks.

It was advertised as being a Lester's can, but I don't have the experience to know if it is.

What do the experts reckon to be the origins and age of this can, please?

(I will take some photos if anybody wants to see detail of any particular part.  The shaped infill in the rear handle is brass, as are the hinges on the main lid.)

I’m fairly certain it’s a Lesters can, well done! They produced some with brass trim from the 70s/80s, I think. I’ve painted many over time, these days painting over the brass. Look after it.

Many thanks.

The plan was to paint it BW blue and yellow to replace the BCLM one from Sickle that is now beyond sensible repair, but now I'm wondering if it is too good for a plain paint job!
