Wasps rugby fans can drift by the pre-game traffic by catching a water taxi to the Ricoh Arena this season.

The Living Environment Trust has announced the return of its ‘Water Buzz’ to transport fans to home games aboard The Coventrian Narrow Boat.

Fans will then have the opportunity to take a trip down to the canal for every home game throughout the team’s Premiership and European Champion’s Cup campaigns.

Raffaella Tentindo, of the Living Environment Trust, said: “We have seen great demand for this transport service since we started to run it on Wasps rugby match-days.

“Last season was a record attendance year for fans coming to watch Wasps home games at the Ricoh Arena, the matches have become huge showpiece events in the Coventry calendar.

“If you’re looking for a unique and relaxing way to get to the games then this is definitely it, you can beat the crowds, drift by the traffic and still arrive with plenty of time to kick-off.

“It’s a great opportunity to talk with fellow fans and really get that ‘buzz’ before you’re even in the stadium.

“We’re delighted to have made this available for another full Wasps season. We’re expecting a lot of interest and I would encourage those thinking of joining us on The Coventrian to book their places early.”

There will be a fully licensed bar aboard The Coventrian and passengers who board at Canal Basin will get a free pork and stuffing bap.

Profits from the hire of The Coventrian Narrow Boat go to the development of The Living Canals Project.

Tickets from Canal Basin are priced at £10 with a 10 per cent discount for Wasps season ticket holders. A journey from Hawkesbury Junction is priced at £5 (no season tickets discount applies).

A full list of cruises to Wasps games is available at www.covsf.com. To find out more information and for bookings call 024 7682 4022 (or 024 7663 08244) or email coventrian@covsf.com.

Certainly no problem with mooring. BW as was must have been expecting a lot of waterborne visitors to the Ricoh Stadium going by the number of mooring rings on that stretch.

Maybe the then local ops manager was a Wasps fan? :P

Why would anyone want to watch Wasps? The only reason I can see for going to the Ricoh is when Leicetser Tigers are playing there.

Couldn’t agree more, only been to the Ricoh once, when the mighty Leicester Tigers we’re playing Wasps.

It’s not a bad stadium though and hopefully the have got thinsg sorted out, as there were still a few hangovers from football when we were there.

Getting there should be good now that there is a station at the stadium, they were previously running free busses fron Cov and Warwick Parkway stations.

Erm, not quite

The last time we went, they were running special trains. We were early and caught the previous three carriage train, which was packed

The return train was delayed, so they only allow enough fans onto the platform to fill a three carriage local train. We were too late to get onto the plaform

We got the bus

Mind you, Wasps won convincingly, I had a few pints and a pie. Good fun was had by all
