Trickling water sound on fire/back boiler

Driving us crazy.

Lived on our boat now for about 6 years, we have a Squirrel Morso Stove with a back boiler. The fire heats 3 small radiators and they are hot right to the top of them. We also have an Eberscpacher. Everything has always worked fine.

We noticed a slight trickling sound coming from the fire area a few weeks ago, at first it was when the Eberspacher was on but now it is when the fire is on and the heating pump is on too.

It seems to be getting louder. (Might be ‘cos it is driving us mad)

We have bled the system, drained water off, ensured it is topped up but no the trickling is still there.

We feel it is coming from the fire/back boiler area.

I feel sure this is a problem some of you will have had and would truly welcome any advice you can offer.

I have a radiator at home that makes a noise, thought it could be bubbles but having fiddled with the valves and changed the flow rate it stops for a while. I now think its a bit (s) of scale that dances around in by the inlet.

Do you have an air release point on the pipework coming out of the fire, or does the pipework rise away from the fire ?

A better test is whether the radiators are hot (or at least warm) right to the bottom. If they are cold at the bottom then you aren't getting circulation. Could your noise be the sound of boiling in the back boiler?

Sorry for delay in responding but we have been out on the boat with very little coverage.

We spent a good while eventually pushing water through the system and bleeding it out and after a few days doing this it is so quiet.

Strange not to hear the trickling sound now!
