To be fair, at least in these parts some of the official summer (July, from memory) was quite wet and about the same temperature that we are, er, enjoying now. We rarely light the stove on our boat, as we tend not to take her out in the deep midwinter, but I have just phoned a chimney sweep to come and sweep the chimney of our solid-fuel stove in the lounge at home, as I suspect that we may be interested in lighting it before too long. We haven't had the central heating on yet either, but the slight matinal nip in the air these last few days tells me that we may set it to come on for a couple of hours in the early mornings.

We ain't got a stove so no we have not lit it yet.

We have however had the Webasto on for the odd hour here and there. With the chill in the air this morning I suspect we will have the heating on this evening. Might even leave it on the timer now. Don't want to wake up too a cold boat!

We have had out heating on at home the last few evenings. Probably no need for it but it does take the edge off and I like to be nice and warm.

Jeez....

How dull can threads on here get!!!!

Try to wait till October before lighting stove but we cracked on Friday, doing a late evening run into Birmingham in the dark, very late due to weedhatch visit, Gillie lit the stove and between the dark and the smoke I could barely see where we were going. Got stuck on big obstruction under railway bridge (in the dark) but just about climbed over it using full revs. Moored right outside Canal House and drank expensive beer. Had big misunderstanding about which parts of pub were dog friendly, complained to manager, manager gave us expensive drinks free. On Saturday went to the Flapper (Saturday is full on Heavy Metal night), really hope it does not get closed down by property development proposal, drank a truly spectacular amount of beer, don't feel so good today.

Is that better Mike????

Met another boater in the Flapper but he had drunk an even more spectacular amount of beer, had started at midday, sat at table with us but despite his best efforts was unable to speak, think he was a Northerner, drinking Newcastle Brown!
