Moorings on River Soar?

We moored overnight near the Otter a couple of months ago, nice location with good piling, but much of the edge is shallow so you need to pick your spot.  It don't think the Otter has any moorings though so you can't get to it from the towpath side.  For the Rose and Crown there are plenty of moorings in the lock cut above the lock.

We have stayed outside the Rose and Crown in the Zouch Cut. Was a very pleasant evening and not far into Loughborough.

We also had an evening in the basin in Loughborough which was surprisingly quiet, although this is a fair few years back now so things might have changed.

Sailing nb from Trent lock towards Loughborough, is there anywhere before Loughborough to moor, the map shows two pubs, the Otter and Rose and Crown. Any good and can I moor? Would like to not moor in Loughborough if possible.

Even I, who am pretty fussy about where I moor, found mooring in Loughborough just fine.  If the basin is full, which it seems to be quite a lot these days, then the first space you see after turning left at the junction, but you will need to use pins unless the space immediately after the junction is free, where there are a couple of rings.

Hi, there are plenty of moorings for the Rose & Crown, go through Zouch lock and you can moor anywhere along the towpath side.

Alternatively if you go a little further on, there are some moorings outside the Plough at Normanton, which is a nicer pub. IMO.

The Plough has such an extensive menu that it can only arrive pre-prepared and then zapped in a microwave or bain marie. The menu at the Rose and Crown is not extensive and a bit old fashioned but is cooked on the premises.

You could attempt to moor at the Otter but their moorings are really only suitable for small boats. It is a chain pub.

Moorings in Loughborough are best either side of the junction. The basin is a swine to manoeuvre in!! Plenty of good pubs near the canal including The Swan in the Rushes and a micro pub and a Wetherspoons. A bit further away is the White Hart and its neighbour the Three Nuns.
