School Days - Day 04

Featured Posts

School Days seems to be settling in nicely with the neighbours. She's all clean, seals around windows etc are redone, I've changed a couple of light fittings (for LED lights), and redid the seat covers. Here she is:

While looking at the underside of the big oval table, and the diagonal black bars (holding the roof up) I came across the name 'Halcyon Lady'. I take it that was the name before School Days? I did find a registry note for Halcyon Lady here: http://canalplan.org.uk/boat/27159 . I'll maybe try and dig more into the history of her.

I took a walk down to the sea lock which is where I entered into Bowling Basin from the River Clyde on that fateful day. It was just before high tide when I took this photo, and you could just see a bit of the submerged sea wall that I came over:

It was quite scary to think I sailed over that rubble and, somehow, didn't hit anything. The next day I went down again at low tide. Oh, it was much worse!

At low tide, you can see all the ship wrecks (in the distance in the photo above, but in more detail below) and the submerged wall is massive!

On the bright side, I did see some other ships. I kept thinking how out of place School Days looked between that big war ship on one side and the narrowboat behind me. When I saw this guy:

But, to help School Days look like The Ritz was this guy:

Who knows. Maybe inside there it IS The Ritz!
(NOTE: I don't mean to belittle this boat. I think it's a great idea. Hey, as long as it floats that's all that matters!)

For the coming weekend(s) I still have that second battery to fit. Which does seem to hold a charge. It's currently sitting hooked up to a small solar panel. I have an isolation switch for it, and some cable. My problem is where to put the whopping great thing. The current battery compartment might take two batteries, but it'd be a squeeze, and the damn things are heavy. So I'd rather not make life difficult.
