Don't want to put a shilling in the meter for the backpump then.

Quite. We both know that there is a huge backpump at Bradford on Avon, and another one at Bathampton lifting water out of the Avon into th pound below the lock.  If there is a serious lack of water above Bradford lock it can only be because of mismanagement ( or a serious leak!)

Currently moored just outside of the Senington VMs.    Arrived about 5pm and had to moor a bit further off the bank then usual.   Walked up to the Barge for a drink and bite to eat, got back and boat is right over on her beam ends ( well almost!).    Uxter plate well showing now.

Seemed ok by this morning.     Now up at Sells Green, Seend flight was low in water, particularly by the Barge Inn and the pound above that.   Rest seemed ok if down only by a couple of inches.

This morning we came across 3 locks with the top paddles fully open and both top gates open. Not a bad thing from our point of view as we were going down and could just drive in, but not how it should be done. The most likely culprit was an ABC leisure hire boat from Hilperton that we'd passed earlier. Then passed another boat, and on arriving at the lock they must have departed 10 mins earlier, found that both top paddles were fully up. And both bottom paddles were fully up. Fortunately it's a fairly long pound so it hadn't dropped too much, but what a waste of water. It was one of those locks with a sign up saying "please leave the lock with the bottom paddles up". I guess the sign should have said "... and the top paddles closed"! Some people are just so incredibly stupid.
