second hand windows

The windows in my narrowboat are in need of replacement, if only because a previous owner removed all the opening sections! Whilst this means the boat is secure(?) it has the downside of meaning very little ventilation which on the few hot days we get becomes quite "interesting".

Sadly (especially now I am retired) the budget is limited and the cost of new windows look prohibitive, so I am looking for suggestions for acquisition of good second hand windows.

I can't help wondering what happens to the windows removed when boats are being refurbished ...........

What sort of windows? Type, size, manufacturer?

36 inch by 21 inch, any type of opening window, straight top, radius lower corners. Not worried about manufacturer. It would be handy if they were in pairs, or a total of nine windows!

Can't help. Mine are 9 of (7 x (48" x 24") & 2 x (36" x 24")).

Note that different manufacturers use different radiusesesesess.

OK, thanks for the thought.

There is no indication of manufacturer on the existing frames, I wonder if there's a way to tell who made them. The only clue I have is that I think they're original and are fitted to a 1989 Liverpool hull. They originally had louvres to the bottom section.

Anyone got any thoughts?

As alluded, I think the issue will be not in using second hand windows but in finding used examples which fit the hole you have.
