matty40s
I visited an art gallery today and amongst the eclectic mix was a selection of landscapes including these two. Challenge, name the locations which the paintings were labelled. And number 2...

nicknorman
It's funny how artists really struggle with the perspective of narrowboats. Not that I could do any better, but then I'm not an artist.

Ray T
In the first picture the boat which is moored on the rhs is only secured to one ring which is in the middle of the towpath. Edited August 13, 2017 by Ray T

He hasn't had the time to attach the other end nice and loose like the tied one because he's hanging out of a window shouting at the other boats to slow down. And it appears to be the back end of a Northwich motor going backwards. I've never seen that before, sometimes it happens to chopped butty boats. Heartland
I believe these images come into the group where artistic licence is heavily employed. Paintings and prints regularly appear on the stands at the Antiques for Everyone at the NEC. Some are quite accurate others are not. Art for Arts Sake? to quote 10cc! matty40s
The first is labelled Stoke Bruerne, which is just about plausible, although width of canal, offside moorings and arc of turn are all wrong, amongst everything else. The second is labelled Braunston Lock, the only one which could fit is the one next to the Nelson, which has shrunk and is going to fall into the lock........ Heartland
These paintings are not, perhaps, the result of a junior school project. If that is the case the painter/ painters could grow up for aspirations in CRT management.
