Are there any pubs, eating establishments worth visiting on the Lancaster, so far only found Guys and the Roebuck in Bilsborough, hoping to venture a bit further this weekend, we did visit Garstang last week but due to the wife being in a wheelchair we didn't manage to find anything within easy pushing distance..

You could also visit Barton grange garden centre worth a visit and the cafe is quite good for lunch if a little pricey. Honeywell farm sell meat there and you will get some excellent fresh meat if your a carnivore.

The hand and and dagger at catforth (next to canal) used to be a great pub but not been there for years.

We did that last weekend, and yep we bought a whole heap of meat , very very good , the Hand and dagger is another on our must do lists.

What's the Old Tithe Barn in Garstang like these days.  It was good in the early '80 when we used the frequent it quite at bit!

Tried to Moor there the other day but only tow path moorings avaliable and after checking it out the wife couldn't manage the steps so that's one to try again when its a bit quieter.

If you get to Lancaster the Waterwitch is beside the canal as is the Canal Turn at Carnforth; both serve reasonable food and ale. The Tithe Barn in Garstang is fairly close to the visitor moorings and is ok.

Lancaster is our aim next week so will keep these in mind, thanks

The only pub I have ever known to sell draught MILK!  Local farmers used to complain at the price he managed to charge compared to what they got per gallon at the farm gate!

You may find wheelchair access from the canal to the Hand and Dagger tricky as it is fairly steep access and the moorings aren't great either.

The Snug at Carnforth is wonderful, but quite restricted opening hours.

In Lancaster the canalside White Cross is (in my opinion) much nicer than the Water Witch. Excellent food. Lancaster is full of nice pubs, and there's a wheelchair-friendly slope from most of the bridges in the centre.

On the Glasson arm the Mill at Conder Green is a bit smart and foody, but still a nice place for a meal or a pint.

The Plough at Galgate is easily reached from the canal: food is quite good, but I always found the beer rather disappointing. The New Inn just up and over the road from it is a nice "proper" pub.

They should all be wheelchair accessible.

(I've never been there by boat, but the boy-child was at uni there so we visit regularly)
