What tools

Depends the boat and how handy you are, basic tools to maintain an 1980's car and refit a cupboard door. If the windows are suspect, a roll of sillage tape.

If you're doing DIY, an 18v Li-ion drill and a 4.5inch angle grinder!

I bet you've already got a small tool kit in a box like most of us have, that will cover most things I'd also get a smallish panel saw and an axe (for chopping firewood).  I've also recently acquired a scythe and if you can't think why you would need such a thing you soon will.

TBH most of the time I get by with just a swiss army knife.

But the one thing I wouldn't be without is my flexible pick up tool (ooh matron) not the magnetic one the one with the spring loaded claw.  Absolutely essential kit on a narrowboat.

Hi all,

will be buying first narrowboat soon and I was wondering what tools would you take on board?

don't think the contents of my shed will fit

Cheers

Whatever tools you put onto the boat, you'll always find there's something you need which you don't have onboard. But if you have a shed full of tools and can get back there you'll be fine. I wouldn't be without a tube of Stixall or Marineflex and a standard cartridge gun.
