Probably just bought the boat from Whilton and are at work tommorow morning in Central London so can't stop to rename it.

I thought they might have nicked it from Whilton whilst viewing it but I´m not sure they do shiny boats.

I bought a boat once with a truly cringeworthy name.

Painting it out was my top priority on collection of it.

That may be so but painting it whilst on the move? Looks dodgy to me.

And with white paint and a roller too on an apparently nicely painted boat... It does seem odd, but maybe so odd that it was too obvious to be a criminal! Then again, read the stories of the lack of brains of some of those that get caught, on the other hand..

Very personal this boat naming business :)

We were in the marina where meander was based - they were a very nice couple and obviously did not want their names on the boat so came to the 'meander' idea .... worked for them !

Which is, of course, a lovely thing for them if they were the originals. Unfortunately, approximately 400 others have since had the same idea and it begins to look a bit hackneyed. I believe that's the point Mike was making.

Once bought a boat called Myfanwy ( to close to my fanny ) luckily it hadn't been sign written after a repaint. Very quickly became Slow Motion and strangely at the time it was the only one called Slow Motion.

Yes he has been sitting there for years.

He once said he was more famous for sitting on the toilet than for his music

Only 58 according to http://canalplan.eu/boats/boats.php

Other popular boat names are listed at http://canalplan.eu/boats/boatnames.php

No. 162 - Inflatable Canoe. Great name for a boat.

Not convinced of the accuracy of that list and I suspect that well over 50% of those names were used on working boats.

But I didn't spot Steelaway. Terrible name and I reckon easily in the top 10.

I spotted a Meandera in Braunston marina. I couldn't help thinking that sounded very dubious.
