Amazon Prime Day

Has anyone found any good bargains on Amazon Prime?  Today is their big sale.

I got an e-mail about this but I don't know what's happening. As far as I am aware, "Prime" is Amazon's faster delivery service, is that correct? I think I used it once when buying some books, as they were offering a free upgrade on that day.

If you are a prime member you get access to the sale.

If you are not, then you dont.

Prime is a subscription that gives you free next day delivery, free music and lots of crappy films to watch.  If you take the subscription today is a special sale on certain items.  I use Amazon a lot and so the £80 subscription is quite good value for me.

How many unwanted email "suggestions" do you get from them, for stuff you neither need nor want?

You can start a free, 30-day trial today and cancel tomorrow if you fancy looking at the sale.  I think you might bag a bargain if you need a TV or similar item.  I don't get spammed by Amazon.

I have signed up a number of times by mistake (my fault,as I never read the instructions properly). Always cancelled straight away, but it runs for a month.

It can be worth joining, but you do need to buy a fair bit from them to save the postage costs, watch some of the stuff on prime tv, or 'borrow' ebooks on the kindle/kindle app.

In parts of the UK you can get 'same'day' deliveries but they will be in the evening.  Still I find next day very handy, especially if I need a specific tool or equipment for my boat.  They were flogging ten-year-old Laphroaig for less than £23!  All gone now.

It is a bit of a come on in my opinion, just like most sales. The stuff that I actually want either isn't in the sale, is sold out or isn't yet available.
