Moorings at Bingley

Featured Posts

We are planning a trip in our 60' narrow boat to Bingley, we are attending a reunion there so we need to moor for at least 48 hours. Can anyone advise as to whether there are good moorings nearby and whether they are plentiful, we will be there mid September.

I would also be interested in general comments on the L&L, travelling west, is it a busy canal and are moorings generally good?

Thanks

It's generally quiet apart from round Skipton area and in

September more so.

The Vm's at Bingley aren't very picturesque and I haven't actually

stopped there but I would guess they are ok .

Bear in mind if you're coming through Leeds it takes

longer than you think to "get out of town".

Further West ... Gargrave, East Marton and the curly-wurly

bit round Langber plantation are really pretty and rural .

There's moorings at the top of Bingley five. Not many. We stayed one night. Quite busy but we got in. Couldn't get fully into the side.

As said before you can moor at the top of the 5 Rise but we also have problems getting into the side properly.

Theres a couple of moorings near the Fishermans pub at Dowley gap lock just before Bingley no problems there

just a walk into town unless your reunion is at the rugby club then even nearer.

L & L we find is a lovely canal as long as you can put up with all the swing bridges and there's plenty between Bingley and Skipton,

September is a lovely time to cruise there, anything else just ask

If you're going further West...

Barnoldswick ok to moor,a little shop/cafe at Lower Park

Marina. Foulridge ok on The Wharf also has Cargo Cafe.

Barrowford ok at the bottom of the reservoir or at the bottom

of the locks.

I quite like Burnley (but I'm a bit strange) ok on The Wharf

but it's outside a pub so may be noisy depending, also The Weavers Triangle

museum.

Colne was appalling when I last came through.

Further West Church is ok too.
