Jrtm
Just dipped my oil and is low want to add a bit but the only sae 30 oil i can get local is a sae 30 horticultural oil designed for stationary engines and generators. Will this be ok going to do oil change after once i can get the correct stuff as i want to change the oil lines as one has a slight leak.

Will this be ok going to do oil change after once i can get the correct stuff as i want to change the oil lines as one has a slight leak. I had to use some of that in an emergency, many many years ago, when the oil filter on my BMC1.5 (not originally fitted by me!!) developed a leak, and I had run out of the correct oil. However, I replaced it as soon as I could get the correct stuff, and had re-fitted the oil filter. To get better advice we really need to know either which engine you have, or what the API rating should be. If it is an old engine requiring CC rating, Classic Oils of Aylesbury often offer a good deal on Morris Golden Film SAE 30 Oil.

David Schweizer
I am not an expert, but if your engine is a National as fitted to many GUCC boats, I guess it will require a low grade API:CC/SF grade oil:- http://www.classic-oils.net/Morris-Golden-Film-SAE-
