Tidal Thames

Featured Posts

In a few weeks I am intending to travel the Thames from Limehouse. To Brentford no problem. However can I get further - say Richmond and find a mooring for the night. I am guessing that leaving 2.5 hours before high water I would miss the level at Richmond. Are there moorings below the weir? Or can I leave Limehouse earlier and moor below Teddington Lock?

Why not go straight into the GU at Brentford? You will have to pay a licence if you go through Teddington, not sure what might stop you mooring on the tidal Thames guess you could find somewhere to tie up against. I'm not sure if the lockies at Limehouse tell their colleagues at Brentford or Teddington you are coming though.

I don't know

whether it is feasable to time your run to arrive at Teddington at high tide, drop your passenger below the lock and return to Brentford on the ebb tide. No doubt others with more Thames knowledge will confirm whether that can be done.
