I thought this would be an interesting thing to do, reproduce old photos with modern images from the same spot.

If I may start here are two shots from Bloxwich Road bridge looking towards Ken Keays yard in Carl st..

A question for Leo No2 when was the white washed bridge taken back to plain brick?

Thanks

I am sure there are more knowledgeable people about than me but my understanding is 1975 - it's time I went and saw David Blagrove so I'll ask him - I am quite sure he will know.

And I would also guess Nash Mills has been flattened too.

The new development at Nash Mills is in my vuew one of the more inappropriate ones, with mych of the housing close to the canal-side being quite "high-rise"

The only slightly saving grace was the retention of the majority of the structure of what I believe was once John Dickinson's house.

Some of mine have been shown before, but not for some time....

The horse barge trip boat "Ben Klibrech" operating south of Rising Sun lock, Berkhamsted in the mid 1970s.

The same length of canal in recent times.

Another from just South of my last pair....

The steam launch "Swift" leaving what I believe to be Lock 56 on the Grand Union, just South of Berkhamsted.

I keep meaning to go and capture a modern day image from exactly the right spot, but haven't managed it yet.

This is close enough to show it is the same, though
