angelasoldman
Evening all, I have been to Stourport today for a wander around the canal basins, i noticed when walking along the river that the landing stage for one of the ageing trip boats (Severn steamer ?) appears to be an old narrow boat - perhaps a 'joey' of some kind. Is there anyone out there who knows anything about the identity of this boat ? Just curious ! Regards Max.

pete harrison
There are still a few iron former B.C.N. day boats in use as landing stages on the River Severn. The last batch to have been sold (that I am aware of) all retained their B.C.N. gauge plates, and it is from these gauge numbers a comprehensive history can often be collated. If you revisit Stourport see if there is a cast iron B.C.N. gauge plate visible in either or both ends, there will be a single to five figure number cast into the gauge plate along with the letters B C N..
