Ray T
Is that the boat that has a "Warning, generator run until late at night!" sign unashamedly displayed on the back of it, or am I thinking of a similar one instead? That is the same Alan. Haven't seen it about though for about 18 months now.
Athy
A pair of 'Admirals' anybody ? http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=478401 For sale again? I recall that it took Ivor and Mel some time to sell them before, I'm sorry that the new owner/ trader couldn't make a go of it.
IanM
The previous owners had to give up for personal reasons, not because they couldn't make a go of it.

pete harrison
...something very, very good about that Admiral pair.. What is that then ? I seem to to remember Ivor having the bottom of MOUNTBATTEN overplated - which in my opinion is not so good edit = I appear to have remembered incorrectly so my apologies to Mr Bachelor and the current owners. rivergate
Hi Pete I meant that they are nice boats - Ive always really liked the Admiral's personally - the combination of form and function in the design just works in Mountbatten and Jellico - in my opinion anyway.. I meant no comment about current condition or asking price.
Jrtm
Thanks - I didn't know about those two... I guess the fact that they are wood makes these boats worth very little actual cash - unless they have just/recently been rebuilt..? Towy mine was for sale for 2 weeks went on sale 1 may sold by mid may i didnt give anyone elts a chance too even look ...something very, very good about that Admiral pair.. John Brightley
Another wooden boat, Heart of Oak, built by Waltons in 1970: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-50ft-OAK-NARROW-BOAT-BMC-1500-DIESEL-ONLY-ONE-ON-EBAY-STUNNING-BOAT-/222254952262?hash=item33bf6d6f46:g:H~EAAOSwzaJX37oq Passed this yesterday, it was moored by the Anchor at Hartshill. It looks interesting from about 100ft away, but get much closer and you quickly see that the hull looks a bit ropey. Edit: It was on ebay in October last year as well, when the advert said "has fallen into disrepair and needs substantial work to whole of boat. She partially sank last year" Edited September 20, 2016 by John Brightley

magnetman
I like Mountbatten and Jellicoe. I tgouhjt Mountbatten had been properly replated rather than overplated. Its a shame if its the latter as someone will have to remove that and get it done properly. They are handsome boats. I bought my first bag of coal in 1994 from Ivor at Braunston turn when he just had Mountbatten. Good memories
rivergate
...me also...had literally just craned in our new build hull to have Ivor come past in Mountbatton...realised Id bought the wrong boat and bought a few bags of coal from him
