Towpath tidy, Kennet and Avon Canal, Semington to Hilperton, 11th Feb 2018 - All welcome

Liveaboard boaters are organising a towpath tidy between Semington and Hilperton on Sunday 11th February 2018. Everyone is welcome. Please join us at the canal bridge at Semington (160) at 11.30 am for an 11.45 am start. We aim to litterpick between Seend Park swing bridge (155) and Hilperton Marina. This is around a 3.5 mile stretch so we will need lots of people!

Please bring work gloves and wheelbarrows if you have them; some barrows will be provided. You will probably need warm clothes, a drink and some food. We aim to finish around 3.00 pm, though a well-earned drink in a local pub afterwards is obviously an option. We look forward to seeing you on the 11th February.

The Outdoor Pursuit Centre at Birstall on the river Soar are orgainsing litter picks on a regular basis. More information herehttps://www.lopc.co.uk/about/get-involved/river-clean-team/

Litter is collected from both the towpath and on the water = canadian canoes are provided for this. I took part in the one held on 24th February 51 bin bags of rubbish plus large items were collected. The stretch of the river downstream of Leicester gets a lot of rubbish in it - the LOPC make every effort to keep the area that they operate in clean. They are always happy to have volunteers to help with this. Why not go along and help?
