You need to connect them in 'series' but you wont double their current capacity, it will stay at 165Ah. Only batteries in parallel work this way. But, if you connect two 6V batteries in parallel, you're stuck with your original 6V but a higher Ah.

The amp hour rating will remain the same 165 Ah.

A 12 volt 165 Ah battery is 6 times 2 volt cells, and each cell is still 165 Ah.

A 6 volt 165 Ah battery is 3 times 2 volt cells, and each cell is still 165 Ah.

Depends on how you connect them

Wired in series = 12v 165ah

Wired in parallel = 6v 230ah

And you all agree with each other :lol:

Probably because the "usual suspects" have yet to join the thread!

Lets try another....

If I replace a pump-out loo with a cassette one will it be....

( a ) A better boat

( b ) A worse boat

I have just reported this post to the moderators for being deliberately disruptive.

You all need to go back to school

Wired in parallel will give 6v & 330 not 230amps

But your right on the wired in series at 12v & 165amps.

Justme

I didn't mention anything about 230 amps either...

Aged about 5 years old I spent weeks knowing I could wire up 2 X HP2 batteries in series and parallel at the same and get twice the capacity at 3 volts. All I had to do was find the "magic" combination of diodes. Similar mentality to the perpetual motion machine brigade. ie that of a 5 year old.

I dabbled with perpetual motion between the ages of 6 and 8. I guess I was a later developer.

However I had a big breakthrough a couple of years after I got wed. There is a definate link between perpetual motion and the wife's nagging capabilities!

I always thought that was to do with inverse proportion, the more nag the less work.

It is with me.

HP2, I remember it well.
