  1. Thanks all Yes sorry for taking it a little off topic but I figured the systems are pretty similar!! Thanks again
  2. Hello all Im looking for a low height 110 battery and these look very cheap but ideal. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110AH-Leisure-Battery-Low-Height-maintenance-free-sealed-for-life-NEW-AUTOELITE-/301156183711?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 The seller has pretty decent feedback but is it too good to be true? Cheers
  3. Hello This is a cheeky question for my land boat (A Vito camper conversion). I am installing a leisure battery with a voltage sensing relay to charge it. The two batteries are quite close (passenger seat and drivers seat). Can I ground the new leisure battery to the negative terminal on the starter or does it have to be to the body work? If I can, then can I also ground everything else to the negative on the leisure battery (as it's only about 1.5 feet to the cupboard that houses all the electrics). Or again, is there a reason that it all need to be grounded to the chassis / bidywork somewhere. (I am assuming all the above could be replicated in a boat hence the battery whizzes may be able to help!) Thanks in advance.
  4. Also would that cause dc leak issue or is that more likely to be a grounding issue?
  5. Hiya - yes socket tester says l and n reversed. To fix to I just rewire the shore power socket he opposite of how it is now?
  6. On shore power we're seeing a dc current alert via our safe shore device. Could this be because our ac is inverted? As I have a feeling out L & N are in reverse. Would that cause stray dc current? Would it also cause rcd tripping? Thanks in advance:
  7. Hello I have managed to bend my hatch door so it won't shut. Can anyone recommend a metal worker near bath or Bristol who will be able to help me remedy this? Many thanks
  8. I have an md22 / prima m60 / Austin montego. It's got a cam belt which is tricky to change (hence my over thread) but it's been an excellent engine to us over the past 4 years
  9. Hi can anyone recommend a competent mechanic in or near Saltford / Bath who can come out and change the timing belt / cam belt on our perkins prima / volvo penta / Austin montego engine? Also the alternator belt! Thanks http://www.ootnic.com/volvomd22.html
  10. Hello Last year someone left our hatch door open whilst cruising and it caught on a lock and warped so that the wood popped out and it no longer closed flush. Does anyone have any advice on remedying this? Would a panel beater be able to fix it or is the steel too agricultural/thick? If so should I approach some kind of fabricator? We live in Saltford if anyone has any ideas but equally, just knowing what kind of business might be able to help at this stage would be useful. Thanks!
  11. Hi all Our washing machine a fairly old but perfectly sized 'studio' machine has started tripping our electric. Any one had similar issues or know why this might happen?
  12. Hi all Thinking of getting some solar for our 12v systems. I have a couple of questions: 1) Has anyone brought from Bimble Inn Solar? I was thinking about getting this package: http://www.bimblesolar.com/12v-220w-20amppt 2) I am thinking of using this mounting kit - it will make the panel flat - how much of a con is this? http://www.bimblesolar.com/extras/solar-abs-mount-kit 3) I want a panel that will: a) top up my batts when off my mooring (not hugely often) run my 12v systems during peak summer (pumps and a few 12v lights at night) Will 220v do this? My partner and I both work in the day and we also have a load of 220v lamps which we will continue to use on the 240v. Thanks!
  13. Hi all I am keen to do my bit and vote, but I am on a non residential mooring and have no home address other than a communal post box that isn't really there for that kind of thing. Do I have any options?
  14. I had to paint in the heat last year and some of the roof paint has cracked!
