  1. and here was me expecting to see a speed boat nowt like abit of bully
  2. the trip boat i crew is hydrolic drive. the only thing we've noticed different really is things getting stuck in the prop, they break the pin on a direct drive, but no other action other than clearing the prop needed with hydrolic
  3. its probly the requirements for arranging moving an collecting it thats put most people off, and as you say its about the same price as getting something built to your own spec. maybe they might take less if it sits around longer
  4. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Traditional-60ft-Ste...1QQcmdZViewItem spotted this on ebay, and thought id make people aware of it looks quite nice from the pictures might be useful to someone. ive counted my pennies and i cant afford it yet
  5. for anyone that wants to look up old maps online, heres a really useful website. i found out my house had a great view both sides until someone build more houses in 1850ish, how inconsiderate of them. http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
  6. one good tip is not to try and turn round near fishing platforms, as one day you will get stuck. only 20 minutes taken to free from the wedged state oops
  7. they'll never let kids near that, just think of the health an safety issues they have these days, theres the water, then boats. a crane, then a boat dangling about from the crane, the health an safety man would have kittens, the wonders of a modern age
  8. seems like a good way of getting alot of people to the area but has been said putting things in the way of boats etc at high tide. and did noone think of the safety aspect. i wonder how many "false" callouts they have to go people stuck on the beach as the tide comes in.
  9. been doing some work on the trip boat on the chesterfield and come across a great lock if you like your paintwork, the hollingwood lock. the bywash comes out just below the lock under the lead in bridge, nicely washing the boat against the wall. and just to make it more fun theres metal stop plank rails about a foot away from the bywash to scrape more paint off will try and get a picture up int he gallery
  10. nice thought, but i just think that wooden catch on
  11. just thought id tell people my last few weeks fun. finally joined the volenteers boat crew on the john varley. its good fun, just want to get out on the water more now. sunday for afew hours an afew charters just isnt enough. anyone wants to come over there more than welcome. more people charter the boat please, then i get to drive more
  12. tonight has illuminated boats so will look like little show boats theres about 25 boats there so been rather busy. hopefully it wont take them much longer to link back the 2 halves again
  13. sorry to high jack the thread alittle, but also this weekend is the trail boat festival in chesterfield . come support the cut off end of the chesterfield. been good so far and theres more fun tomorrow. look out for me at the controls of a 60' working boat(well a scale one anyway)
  14. maybe alittle late, forgot it was on until i drove past today. 28-30 ie this weekend, on the cut off section of the chesterfield canal, in chesterfield would you believe. if any of your there look off for the skipper at the 'radio' controls of a 60' working boat, thats me hope to see some of you there
