  4. As others have said how long is a piece of string ? Lets look at this from a slightly different angle and ask how you will feel in 2016. Then you will also be selling your truck presumably to buy your boat and follow your dream do you l have a figure in mind that you are going to ask for it. What will your sale price based on ? Your purchase price, today's market price for a similar truck, today's price less 2 years depreciation ? Are there a lot of trucks like yours or can it attract a premium premium price What will the market be like for second hand trucks be in 2016 If I made an offer 20% below your asking price would I be wasting my time or yours ? The good news what ever the answers are you have time on your side.to plan your budget. Go to brokers a look a boats that don't come into your budget as well' have a good look to see the differences £10k makes. chose a couple outside your budget and ask how the vendor would react if you were to offer xxx less GOOD LUCK
  5. When we first moved up here there was a family of them on the river below Bingley five rise C&RT must have moved them on
  6. Hi Tony Trust Noeline is feeling better . Have a look at http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Audlem~2656793/ a website I have found very accurate All the best both John & Marian
  7. Sorry ours does not have a back boiler I have found this http://jhalfie.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/sweeping-villager-puffin-stove.html Which may be useful HTH John
  8. Mark the extremities on the towpath measure the distance between ??
  9. Must admit I thought mine was welded in place as well I cleared the top of the plate first but then realised that that the build up of sh1t had gone down the back and blocked up the airfow. The Villager website shows the baffle plate as a replaceable spare so it may not be welded in place
  10. Bump Just checked your stove has a baffle plate so my previous answer may be relevant John
  11. We had a similar problem with with a Squirrel stove that was building up concrete like deposits on the top of the baffle plate as a result of burning excel and similar brands. To such an extent that it was impossible to move the baffle plate. Further examination showed that there was no airflow behind and over the plate, It took over an hour release the plate and clear away the build up. Any sooting on the glass quickly burns off and there is now no build up of the concrete like residue
  12. I know I am new and don't own a boat yet Not sure if this was covered in any of the 16 pages because I didn't want to read all the banter, banter, blah, ? You could at least read the title of the thread boaters target boaters
  13. I'm sure the eminent member will reward the OP with a Yorkie Bar or two when they return from the Dales

  17. In six years cc we have tried freeview, freesat and now Sky. The main problem with satellite reception being dish alignment. It is essential that the pole that the dish swivels round is setup completely square in both planes vertical and horizontal, using a spirit level, so that when the dish rotates you do not lose the correct alignment angles. Once you have achieved this this and have line of sight you will find the signal very quickly , especially if using a Sky box as it only gets the signal from its own satellite unlike freesat boxes which in my experience picked up many different satellite transmissions.
  18. Phil, Again I find myself agreeing with your sentiments, and I assume that Leo has checked that the fan belt is neither snapped or lose. I have reread the original post and can find no indication of the distance of the car to home journey she has to make. My understanding of a car alternator is that its function is to replace the initial drain on the battery that the starter takes out and then retain the charge which ,as you point out will be less if you do not use radio, air con etc. My intial suggestion of using a fully charged battery to jump start the car still stands, I was not suggesting that it be connected in permanently and could be used to jump start the engine again should the existing battery fail en route. HTH John
  19. I take your point Phil, however would the non charging alternator just ruin the new battery? John
  20. Presumably any of your boat batteries if fully charged would be able to start the car via jump leads IF I have read your post correctly
  21. Hi Bux, No experience selling from a boat, but lots from a High Street. I remember a similar thread which may or may not be helpful.http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=43813&hl=%2Bcafe%2Bhebden+%2Bbridge Hope this helps Good Luck
