Greetings. We have an older Sterling 3.5kw inverter and it's starting to play up. It switches off when theres no load, but has decided not to switch back on sometimes, or decides that the microwave ( on standby is enough to keep it in ) isn't enough and deposit out. Also the main big power cables into it get warm even though there's very little load( is this normal?) . All these faults are put right with a rattle, bang or a turn off and on again.
Sooooo, we think we might need to change this soon , as live aboards we need something reasonably big, but do we get a Sterling combi( the big white rectangular thingy) and replace our battery charger ,which is of the same age, or do we just get a new inverter and save a few hundred quid?
Thoughts and advice always welcome, also a good one to buy might help
