hi all just about to start re fit of my 57trad, and thought id stick my ore in on this one,
iv riped out the 4mm ply, and the polistyrine insulation, by previouse owner, cos it looked such a cheep fit out,
I bought a diy spray foam kit 56m for £480, suposedly fire resistent, will let you know if that works,
im going to use pine t&g then paint it white on the roof, havent decided on walls yet, maybey smooth mdf, with a light coulor wash.
i agree, with every thing said so far, it will be a lot easyer to fit planks, than sheets, iv done both, the roof of a barge is 5 ft wide so you end up with a gap to fill either side, or if fit side to side (wich is not the way to do it), a lot of cutting, straining trying to fit 5x4 sheets through 2x4 doors, time wise i recon id be quicker with t&g, and if your fitting lights to the roof, what a pain you need 2 people one to hole the sheet, one to feed the wire throgh.
iv seen plaster board used for lineing out, it looked great, he painted it light pastle green, would love to know if it stood the test of time, as he moved on to doncaster area, this was my only concern when he was doing it, but should be well fire resistant,
oh, have you considered venered mdf iv used a bit of that recently and found it cuts realy well vs ply, a bit cheeper, venered both sides, wich is good for cubord building,
i know a chippy who built a boat from exterioir grade ply, he said that as long as it painted well its just as good, and marine ply is not worth the money,
talking of fire isues/BSS why isent it compulsory to have smoke alarms?, basic lfe saving simple cheep, i allways try to use the best fire resitant materials, build practices, but id always put a cuple of smoke alarms in as well,
