  1. After over 12 years of service i have left the Trust (Ex B/W) the management are poor and weak, very little in the way of work, to many high paid employees when nothing is being spent on the system, after three years of just sitting about and doing nothing ive had enough, i dont have a job to go to, but im better than useless, there are a lot of people like me still at the Trust just taking the money and doing nothing.
  2. Im led to believe that contractors made such a bad job of the clearence that the canal is still closed.
  3. Between Tunnel and Basin, should be removed Thurs 13-10-2011
  4. Yes at long last B/W will be telling their staff the new waterways charity name and reviling the new logo. watch this space, or maybe you know already, lol..

  8. Here More boats this year, but less in the way of steam and stalls
  9. Since the new year, out of 10 for B/W, and why, how do you see things gearing up for the charity change next year.
  10. New stoppage on Caldon,, not sure if itss been posted before,, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-12367128 Still no work been carried out i believe.
  11. Well thats a real shame, and such a suprise, i would have thought that Emily was so strong and tough that it would not be an issue to her at all. Do you have any history of her going through any ice at all Dan
  12. I remember when Emily Anne was on the Caldon a few years ago, i bet she could crunch through the ice easily
  13. About 6 inches of snow on caldon today, i took loads of pics.
  14. If your mooring was 3.500 per annum and B/W sent you an invoice for 350.00 you would say bloody incompetent idiots,, say nowt and send them a cheque and hope you get away with it
  15. The river section was well in flood Tuesday and will be again this thursday if we have rain (forcasted), i have some great photos taken at oakmeadowford lock on Tues too. Bare in mind that there are a couple of stopages on the Caldon this winter, one now at Cheddleton bottom lock and i think there is one at Hazlehurst soon after.
  16. What volunteers,, not seen any amount to keep open a one mile stretch of canal, seems like every person in power thinks that the canals will be ok. Truth is, who will volunteer on a regular basis in winter say, would you to cut about 1000 miles of hedge, cut overhanging branches or clean out dirty toilets,,, well if the answers no,, then say good bye to your canals.
  17. The trust should begin in 2012, its likely that on Oct 20th 2010 B/W will be told how much grant they will be getting for the next 5 years, this with property income and what they hope to raise from donations and the usual income from boaters and moorings ect, should ?? B/W has you believe, all will be ok and nothing to worry about. in reality, the government have tried on 3 or 4 times to take the property and its only time before they do, at the moment property is valued about 500m, and sure to rise. No one on the bank really believes that B/W will get the donations they expect and i doubt too that they will have enough volunteers to help existing staff to run the system. I think the canal trusts has a large part to play in keeping canals open, because there won’t be enough money pumped into them to keep the efficiently clean, tidy and manageable. Worrying times ahead for both staff and boating folk, we are all going to pay one way or another.
  18. Mr Evans sent out a memo a few days ago saying he hopes to raise about 5 million after 5 years and up to 17 million pounds after ten years in donations, if the govenment let B/W keep their property and still hand over about 50 million a year, then things will be ONLY getting worse,, slower
  19. With about haf a dozen directors on about 75k each, its easy to see where your money goes, bear in mind, some if not all are employed by B/W and are paid there as well.
  20. The hoppers at Stoke are scrap, old and leaky,,
