  1. No, just chucked 4 ltr into the tank in frustration. It seems it just needs some, not fussy how much.
  2. Just a quick update, it's been about 6 weeks with no problems. Simple answer was it didn't like diesel at 100%. Now I chuck in 4 ltr kerosene per 20ltr fillup and all is well.
  3. Im using it in a system where a webasto heats water. A 50:50 Kerosene/Diesel mix seems to be the only way I can get it to work without smoking like a James Bond stunt.
  4. Application of Regulations 2.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), these Regulations apply to the storage of oil on any premises. (2) These Regulations do not apply to the storage of oil— (a)if the oil is waste oil within the meaning of regulation 1(3) of the Waste Management Licensing Regulations 1994(2); (b)in any container which is situated in a building or wholly underground; (c)in any container with a storage capacity of 200 litres or less; (d)on any premises used— (i)wholly or mainly as a private dwelling if the storage capacity of the container in which it is stored is 3500 litres or less; (ii)for refining oil; or (iii)for the onward distribution of oil to other places; or (e)on any farm if the oil is for use in connection with agriculture within the meaning of the Agriculture Act 1947(3).
  5. It doesn't need to be 205ltr, I just need to it run a Webasto burner. 100/150ltr would be sufficient for a few months usage. If its anywhere near Manchester I can even collect. Plus any barrel will be in my garage so I think that counts as within a building. If that's the case the regulations don't apply.
  6. I'm looking for 205ltr drum of Kerosene. Does anybody know a good place who delivers?
  7. I have it booked in for a bench test next week. Hoping for some answers then.
  8. It's running but it's not right. It's still smoking and the fan isn't stepping up to that last level of speed, no tune playing in the exhaust.
  9. Every single day! We have paraffin, we gave ignition, we have heat but we have no smoke!
  10. Batteries fully charged this morning and unit won't start without smoke. Last night I tried plugging in charger and powering up unit and it made no difference.
  11. How do I get at them? The wires are sheated and I can't see what goes where. Might have to pop it out over the weekend. Do they just pull out of the unit or are they screwed in?
  12. It's white supermarket diesel. Not working today, smoke from the off. Looks like something out of James Bond.
  13. I was thinking that, they are not that heavy duty. Another issue is that the leads on the charger are long, about 2 meters. That cant be great either.
  14. Ok, will try tomorrow. It's not that easy to get at.
  15. No way, I though they'd be thousands the way everything else with 'Webasto' on it costs the earth. Will look now, cheers.
  16. I know what you're saying, everything points to something that diminishes over the day and that's the battery. Im using this - https://www.tayna.co.uk/CTEK-M200-12-Volt-Marine-Battery-Charger-P7794.html every night and I'm determining its charged when the charger tells me it is. I'm not using a multimeter.
  17. Two brand new batteries in there though. 115ahx2 and the equipment I am using (- webasto) draws only about 5ah an hour. Could me taking 30ah from the batteries make that much difference?
  18. Smoking again today after 6 hours of working fine. Isolated it from the fuel tank and line. Used a jerry can and spare hose about 3 foot long. Made no difference. I don't understand why its working for hours and then stopping. It's making a coughing noise and belching out thick smoke. Getting really annoying now! When I had the fault codes read there was a fuel supply fault which they said may be down to the low voltage reading. Wondering now if I've got a duff pump.
  19. No smoke Friday or Saturday. Today at about 6 hours into the day it starts to smoke. Batteries were fine at about 12.5v. Wrecked my head for the late afternoon and then I noticed the diesel level in the tank was low, down to about 3 inches above the outlet. As the tank is mounted about 3.5m from the pump I wondered if the tank needed to be near full to increase the flow of diesel to the pump. Filled the tank at about 5.30 and its been running smoke free since then. I guess the message is when webasto say to mount the pump with no more than 2m intake fuel line run they really mean it. These machines are really highly strung and you need to follow the instructions.
  20. I've got two new 115ah batteries, I'll just charge them every night.
  21. Work is usually tightly packed, I probably only travel 5/6 miles a day. Yeah but the ice cream van has someone in it. I might be round the back of a house for a hour with a van running out front with an 9k cleaning system in it. Vans do get stolen for the systems, they are usually found a few days later with no system.
  22. Had a big panic today when I came back and it was smoking. I though I'd spent £55 on diags and £200 on batteries for nothing. Figured out a gust of wind had blown up the exhaust (will have to fit it better over the weekend) and blown out the flame. Once it was reset all was ok all day for the first time in weeks. The problem for me was not understanding battery life. In the cleaning world, the equipment we use is fairly light on batteries, a 120ah battery will last 3 days between charges. Our equipment has a shutoff at 11.5v so when I saw the batteries reading 12.05v under load I though they were fine, they are for window cleaning. I think the webasto requires much more umph and I didn't understand that. For me things were pointing at a battery issue but when a spare battery that I though as good didn't make a difference I allowed myself to discount the batteries. Again, a big thanks to everyone for the help.
  23. https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-Marine-Battery-Charger-Conditioner/dp/B002Q54CFG I've got one of these to charge it. Hopefully that will be adequate.
