  1. thanks guys yeah measuring by eye did not work out for me. 2mm was a bit to hit or miss with me. the boat is 1975 so yeah i presume the old school one but who knows when the pipes were fitted. there is 2 here. just an example i found them on ebay. same company just cheaper. https://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/search.aspx?q=bubble tester no mention of the other measuring system or anything about glands. oh i presume you meant buy either one and the end gets replaced. is that something easy to do like just unscrew and fit the right one. sorry i know nothing about this topic
  2. quick question. please short answer or link to video would be great. please do debates on if i should get one or models as the last post was stressing me out. i am about to order an Alde Bubble tester. the choices i seen were 8mm and 10mm. is getting connected to a copper pipe. i dont see any measurements on the pipe. what is the most accurate way to measure so i dont buy the wrong one? thanks in advance
  3. Here is what i have. There are setups on both sides with 2 bottles each. Dont ask me why but that is the way it is. I dont really know what i have there
  4. Easier said than done here in Scotland. Nobody has em all. I contacted them all
  5. I was specifically told by the Inspector to get a bubble tester installed. No BSS guys up here are gas wualified and it is illegal for them to use the test points i have because i live aboard. Thats no good with yours failing
  6. No a skill level. It i can follow instruction or copy a youtube video. Someone on another forum said this. Cut your rubber hose near the bottle and just jubilee clip it on, takes two minutes, your meant to get a proper gas installer but it's a nothing job ! sound right? yeah i live full time, for BSS
  7. Hi i need to have a bubble test installed within the next 3 weeks. Can you tell me if it is an easy job to do myself as i cant get someone to fit it in time. Can it be mounted with marineflex? thanks in advance
  8. Depending on my skills, will probably turn into Baltic lady
  9. Haha, yeah def better in the Summer. But those huge gaps with no insulation is just weird and avoidable. This winter is goimg to be much better
  10. Sorry my bad, is a 1975 cruiser narrowboat. Steel hull, fibreglass ceiling.
  11. So i have ripped down my walls after a cold winter. Now that i have i realised why i was so cold. So many huge gaps with no insulation. Holes on the hull that used to be for draining out grey water but never filled in. So the mission is to re insulate, fill gaps and put new walls on ( i destroyed some of the cladding so gonna just replace the whole thing and make it more modern) so my questions are 1) whats the easiest way to fill the skin holes? 2) whats the best material to put on the bottom part of the walls? Ply, mdf, Laminate? Thanks in advance
  12. hi, does anybody have any advice of a product I could use to fully clean out my bilge. after you guys helped me find a leak my bilge is dry for the first time since I got it 8 months ago. now that it is dry I would love to clean it all up and give it a new lease of life. I have some redoxide and rust converters so thinking to put that on the floor. probably some bilge paint on top. does this sound right? anything I should do different or add? also there is a lot of dried oil which I mentioned earlier, I have been in with a scrapper but I am sure you guys will have a smarter way to go about it. maybe some magic liquid or a brush. thanks in advance
  13. Yeah it does look poor.Infortunetly my finances are a bit poor too so will have to leave it for 8 weeks. I dont know what chock blocks are. Thanks for that. Sounds like a big job. Will make sure that is done when i get the electrician in.
