  1. It all depends how you boat. We did Ponders End on the Lee to Braunston in 3 long days last year and even had time to drop into Stowe Hill for a Coffee with Dominic and Steve. Keep an eye on Stonebridge Lock at the moment too, due to vandalism there's a 3 hour passage window.
  2. Sabcat keeps his boat at our yard in Norton Canes. We just tend to sell Excel at £10 to our moorers. If you wanted to buy a quantity I could arrange to get some in for you.
  3. No, it isn't. They have just made their wish clear the the HNBC committee.
  4. Alan, The owner of the items wishes to remain anonymous. As for the proceeds, the HNBC are charging for expenses and the owner of the items is donating a percentage of the final proceeds to the club.
  5. There is nothing stopping anyone who wishes to bid from joining the club, or finding a member that is willing to sign them in as a guest. The club have to run the auction in this way, otherwise they would encounter a lot of legal restrictions.
  6. No telephone bids, but you can forward your written instructions to the Chairman in advance.
  7. Theres an old Asda receipt with it, but unfortunately the ink has faded. :-)

  10. Speak to Laurence Hogg, he has vast experience in having things cast, he may still have contacts from his Boatmans Cabin days.
  11. I would be interested in having a couple of them should they be of a good quality.
  12. What's your ETA? I am currently hatching a plan involving Baldock and next years BCN challenge, I think she could slow a few people down.
  13. TK Maxx sometimes have Epping size dishes and pans. I got a Le Creuset one for about £7. Fits perfectly.
  14. I think you can take it up to 3 times, as there were 3 boxes this year on the front of the paperwork for breaks. We took 2 this year, the first one for the hail and thunder storm and the second to get a little sleep.
  15. You need to factor in the length of the aft deck and bows into your calculations, if we are talking Norton Canes then they have a 3'6 aft deck and 5'6 bows. Edited to add - sorry just realised Alan has said pretty much the same thing!
  16. Wasn't there a guy who used to attend BCN rally's with his remote controlled boat. I have sme vague recollection of it.
  17. I could be tempted to do it again next year. Although there's an Aston Villa match on the Sunday. So I'm torn between boating and football...
  18. It must be old fashioned to build a quality boat.
  19. I think Laurence is referring to his particular situation, not working boats in general.
  20. Emu was carrying for FMC Clover while it was undergoing a rebuild at Norton Canes. Clover trades on the River Lea on behalf of South Island Marina at Ponders End who provide coal to various customers in the south and the Midlands.

  23. Percy Foster is my thought too, I have some of his work and you can see the similarities.
