  1. My stoke boat was fitted with such an arrangement when built. As an engineer i have MY views on this set up. If you tighten the grub screws onto shaft all forward thrust will be taken by the bearing,in this case i found more noise transmitted into the hull than i liked and some sense of vibration.With the grubscrews loose the bearing has no effect other than stopping exesive side to side motion,which would indicate missalignment between engine and shaft. I removed the bearing,removed the flexible coupling,fitted a solid coupling,(worth having for future alignment checks/adjustment) and set up engine alignment near on perfect. Refitted the flexible coupling and went cruiseing. 9 years latter its running loverly with no exsesive noise or vibration.Whilst i like the idea of the python drive type systems,a plumber block in that position is nothing like it and my opinion is that its not necessary. I will add that ive heard mention the plumberblock set up will prevent wear on shaft where it enters stern tube,as it prevents side motion.This would not be a problem if aligment was correct. This is purely my view,other views may be available. This view is not relevent to mid engine set ups where plumber blocks are used for suppotr.

  3. Have a possible answer to obtaining replacement filter (400009) for IV seagull system which are now thin on the ground and pricey. Found a company who are in the process of having replacements made in the uk...... Website marcleleisure.co.uk. info can be seen on their website under water systems. I have contacted them by phone to register intrest and will be informed when available,apparently not far off as have gone to production.Price is expected to be less than original filter. might be worth a phone call if your in the market .

The 2500pro combi is also a battery charger which will activate when on shore power.If you have a voltmeter on your 12v system it will register chargeing voltage, noticeably above 12v (nearer 13.5 -14.5v) .If shore power is not powering your 240v system via the built in automatic change over switch within the inverter,it should be provided by the inverter and the chargeing voltage will not be seen at the voltmeter.

I have a macerator set up of different make so might not be same in operation,but.......if macerator/extractor is not operating then its not being told to...(controls) or it is being told to and is not operating..(motor and associated cabling). My set up has an extraction only button,if yours is the same then does this work? if so then pump and cabling is ok,if not its not being told to. Altenatively,if you have volt meter and gain access to 12 supply to pump motor connections,operate extraction and see if voltage is present at pump,this will also tell you if pump is benig told to operate or not. Not the end of diagnosis but will identify if its controls or macerator. Just to add...Are you positive it is not blocked/jammed

  13. Pretty much as already said,but its critical to ensure any rust is neutalized and the bilge is clean and DRY or it will not last long before rust shows again. My suggestion for paint would be Danboline bilge and locker paint from international (no attachment to companyand i am sure there are similar products available)which i have used and find it gives a first class barrier to oil and water and is extemely hard wearing,it comes in a variety of colours.
