I found their policy on tidal waters to be ambiguous. In recent years I have been a user of the Seven below Upper Lode and Trent below Cromwell. Both are technically (and actually) tidal rivers. RCR documents say you are not covered for tidal waters yet, on renewal, I was assured that I would be "ok". Reluctant to put it in writing or change the policy wording though.
After five years claim free silver membership i thought I would be better off relying on local assistance.
Has anyone seen the NB Toby Jug recently - almost certainly on the non tidal seven.
The NB had engine problems south or Worcester and moored at the Severn Motor Yacht Club on Sunday PM.
Having borrowed a fuel container the couple on board went off to a local garage for fuel - the river was contaminated with spilt fuel for a few hours after.
When setting off from the moorings a problem- presumably with the engine again - resulted in the narrowboat rafting against another vessel causing damage to the handrail stanchions as these were used to secure a rope rather than the cleats.
The owner of the vessel would much appreciate the NB owner to get in touch (c/o the SMYC) and 'fess up !
However, given that there has not been torrential rain for a few days before your trip the odds are that you will wonder what all the fuss was about ! Still, forewarned etc.
I've just written to the lady concerned and come onto the site to alert you all - but you're way infront of me !
There will be virtually no free, overnight mooring between Diglis and Upper Lode locks if this is allowed to go ahead.
Rather than go to all the bother of lifting out and re-launching I would have thought that the buggers would have moved down the Trent after the lockies have gone home when all the locks are user operated.
Doesn't account for Cromwell or Torksey though ?
Check here for river levels http://www.cruisingschool.co.uk/location/river%20severn%20levels.htm
If all is calm it's straightforward. Avoid when the river is in flood - currently easypeasy.
I should tie up in Newark for a few days (if the flood gates are open !) and enjoy the pubs and chippies whilst the river levels sort themselves out. Waitrose and Asda not too far from the river bank to stock up.
If the floodgates are not open Newark Marina may not have a lot of room for a narrowboat but a few moorings upstream within an hour or so - Hazleford is nice if its sunny but NO shops/pubs etc.
Bromley arms has a shop and good pub 20 minutes your side of Hazleford - if you can find space to moor look no further. Be aware as you aproach heading upstream that only the first eighty feet or so is available mooring, the rest is private.
ENJOY !
