  1. Actually I just found instructions here: http://www.oilstoves.co.uk/webdocs/technical/OCI/O_C_I_Ships_Valve.pdf I'll give it a try.
  2. Hi James Yep, it has an over-boil fitted, I've made sure it's pressed in. I have an inline filter which is fine - I've not checked the filter in the diesel regulator, I didn't know it had one. I'll have a check, is it easy to remove? I can't move the stove without major surgery. I clean the stove regularly and the flue is clear. I always start the fire with the circulation pump on too, I've found it makes the fire run poorly too.
  3. I've got a Kabola Old English with a back boiler and have been very happy with it for the 4 years I've owned it. Unfortunately I'm having fuel issues at the moment, I get fuel through when its cold but it stops once the fire is up an running - usually within 5 minutes. I've replaced the thermocouple but no joy - this seems a little weird to me. Even wedging the front lever permanently doesn't fix the issue. Does anyone have an idea as to what I should be looking at next? Failing that, does anyone know a good Kabola Engineer in the Newbury area? Thanks in advance )
  4. I remember John wanted "Peter Keay & Son, Walsall" painted on the back but Ken wouldn't let him. He was a lovely old fella but no idea about marketing... I'll keep an eye for her the next time I'm at Norbury - it'll be a few years as I'm moored at Newbury now.
  5. She was called "Blackie". I loved that cat but when my dad decided we needed some dogs for security, Jack Haddock took her home (we moved onto "Leviathan" at the yard which was never fitted out and so bought a static caravan and lived on that instead). She quite often got her head stuck in a can. By the way, I'm the "Steve" of Keelkast (re: your earlier post about how the company was named).
  6. Yes I believe you're right, I think it was the last boat we finished before moving to Horseley Fields so we never had anything newly built for a while to publish. I remember John Harmon and his girlfriend very well, we all had a healthy mutual respect for Banks's Mild. The last time I saw Canis Major was about 3 years ago moored up at the top of Stoke Bruerne - I see it still had Ken's original signwriting.
  7. Yep I can confirm that the mystery boat is "Canny Fox", it was started when we bought Ken's yard in 1981 and moved to our new yard in Horseley Fields (where we started up as Keelkast Narrowboats Ltd.) to be finished. I can't remember the chap that bought it but he traded up from a Springer called "Badger", hence the name. The hull was our new "Liberty" style hulls based on the josher-style templates which Ken had made when he built a new wooden hull (which sat on the yard and dried out). The photo's of it finished were taken at our new yard.
