  1. In my experience I've found that the 'lite' fishermen are usually fishing for food and taking fish out of the canal (yuck!). It's all down to attitude. I've been out with some very confrontational people and it's as if they are just waiting to have a go at someone and yet they wouldn't be able to fight their way out of a wet paper bag!?!? Never again. Time for a
  2. I only have the fire on when 'er indoors gets cold. I'm usually in a T-shirt and boxers. OK keeping warm when it's cold but completely stuffed keeping cool when it's hot. I should have been born in Alaska or Iceland
  3. My pump out token is 25 units and the pump takes 20. Lasts for between 6 to 9 minutes.
  4. Interesting reading this is. All I can say is on my list of things to do in this situation, calling the police would be on the back at the bottom, scribbled in pencil as an after thought ..... Time for another
  5. Absolutely wonderful Hobgoblin anyone .....
  6. Only way I can see is paying by DD or 'fone a friend ..... Like the boat name and the bird

  8. My wife will not take to the tiller. I have repeatedly asked her if she would like to learn but the reply is always she doesn't want the responsibility of navigating our HOME through the canal system or locks. Prefers to leave that to me and is happy operating the locks. Yeh, sometimes we struggle but usually manage and it's her choice. She's happy and I don't argue. We live a happy life. Have a greenie Spud
  9. One screw clamp on my weed hatch. My nightmare was removing a full heavy duty tarpaulin off my prop. I was only going to fill up with water Good luck with the bolts. Remember, lots of grease
  10. You would only be able to drag my corpse back into a house My only regret is not doing it in my youth The people you meet down here are (mostly) priceless ROCK ON PEOPLE !
  11. Go for it Dean. The sin is using a font like this in my posts and dragging a signature like that around
  12. Think I may have a go with some of that.
  13. Thanx for all the interesting replies. I just found my electric fly swatter. Good for house flys but not sure if it will be any good for midge size flys. I like the lazer idea so I need to go and get some more leisure battries ..... Cheers all
  14. Hiya Tree

You completely shocked me by adding me as a friend. Al these people moaning about my use of non default fonts, I thought I was a lepper. What a breath of fresh air you are. Thankyou and have a great day :-D

  15. Got a board here with lots of features for what? Nothing! Don't use the features of this board just go default all the way. Conform to your personal wishes. You tell me what you want me to do and I'll just roll over and do it?! I wish my life was so boring that all I could do was grumble about someones use of non default font on a message board Can you smell that?
  16. I'm wondering if the guy on the bench was a vulnarable adult ( mental health / learning disabilities ). I used to work in the community with vulnerable adults and the things some unscrupulous people do is unbelievable
  17. I have found attitude makes a big difference. I have friends who have trouble with people who I get on with. Some people can be so confrontational. My phylosophy is make friends not enemies and if that doesn't work, batter and move on ...... I've asked lads to get down off my friends boat roof and been offered cans of beer, for asking and not going ape Police? Don't hold your breath! Here Martin, have a greenie Not sure if anyone out there ever bought AWOL magazine but there used to be a comic strip 'Blym the Pixie'. One episode was a guy with cold looking for something to cough in and the bag of Lime Green Chews that Blym found ............... Great mag snuffed out by money R.I.P.
  18. Back on topic, my wife was operating the lift bridge DOWN near the Aspley Basin. After I passed underneath and she lowwered the bridge, one of the waiting motorist stopped on her way over the bridge, wound DOWN her window and told my wife she had no right messing about with the bridge. My wife replied that we had a key (shown) and without lifting the bridge, how would we get our boat to the other side? She wound her window UP and drove on, off, whatever! Nuff said
  19. Think I've missed something here. If I'm going downhill I keep the boat forward of the cill marker which is on the wall just past the gates I have come through. If I'm comming back uphill, I don't need it because I can see the cill. You say the notices are on the inside of the top gates. Are they on the gates themselves and not painted on the lock walls like they are here? When I'm going downhill, I'm takin' notice of that marker and keeping the boat forward of it ,till I can phisically see it Off back to my ale After giving Bizzard a greenie
  20. IMHO It's the journey that counts and not the desination. Good, dry weather is just a plus. The people you meet is priceless
  21. Can I have all your humane remidies for this purpose and if not, the inhumane ones, excluding the use of ic tools and large blunt instruments Thanks in advance
  22. Welcome to the forum Anthony. I'm with Higgs all the way on this one Have another greenie Edit: Forgot my anoying font. Too many Hobgoblins!
  23. If you moor up in the middle of nowhere and there are no other boats or buildings around then you can use your generator after 8pm, according to the BW regulations. It's all down to uncommon sense again I have a Honda EX650 which I use when I'm out cruising but I always moor in the afore mentioned spot. It's the quietest genie that honda have ever made and for me it's worth twice it's weight in gold. I have a 3KVA diesel genie but I'm still working on the silencer for that so I use it minimally and only through the day (1500 W vac and 2 moulting dogs). I try my best to be tolerant of people but find most to be intolerant of others IMHO. I'm working on getting more battries and a pure sine wave inverter ...... soon
