  1. This thread has just confirmed why I don't bother with this forum or take much notice of members opinions, the thread has now gone off at a tangent like most do and has turned into an Anthony "M" witch hunt. Is there anyone on this forum that knows what really happened and his current business situation? I doubt it. So the guy is a better cabinet maker then he is an accountant, I'm sure there's alot worse out there on the canals, boaters included.
  2. Hi was amending the post as you answered, but you do need to discuss your concerns with Tyler-Wilson as your head will be totally scrambled listening to all the opinions on this forum, good luck
  3. Have you had any FORMAL discussions with Tyler-Wilson as to what you want, shell/layout/fitout/paint etc and sat down and drawn plans up and ACTUALLY placed an order or are you just another potential customer to them? As I'm sure there would be a formal legal contract between yourself and Tyler-Wilson involved and deposits paid, stage payments discussed and final balance completion/delivery date given if you have actually placed an order as this is a long standing Narrowboat building company with an excellent reputation, so your contract wil be with them and not Anthony M who may indeed do the fitout but all monies will be paid to Tyler-Wilson whom you will have the contract with. As you say you have reserched this for the last two years, but you still seam very unsure as the procedures and to what you want. They probably deal with many people like yourself and alot of people who waste their time living the dream, so you need to start doing this on a formal basis and sit down with Tyler-Wilson and discuss these contracts and concerns to have peace of mind and not tie your head in knots on these forums.
  4. Just the shell with no problems off Jonathan, not a complete boat, reading this thread I think the lady has not even spoke or discussed the fitout of the boat with Anthony "M" never mind contracts with him and payment details, rememember Tyler-Wilson is a completly seperate buisness then Anthony M's and all they do is supply shells even though they share the same boat yard.
  5. That's why she needs to speak to recent buyers of Jonathan Wilson/Anthony "M" boats, as what I've seen there's a constant stream of new boats being built and fitted out by them and each one is different so I doubt it would be a problem to speak to recent buyers/customers.
  6. No just an owner of a Jonathan Wilson boat who wants to give a constructive answer and not an opinion on something I know nothing about.
  7. You can't find a better builder then Jonathan Wilson, who has had Tim Tyler, Mike Christian all working for and now working in association with him in the boat building industry. You need to speak to the many recent customers of Anthony "M" as to the quality of the workmanship and boat fitting and not listen to the OPINION'S of the members of this forum. I have a bespoke Jonathan shell and there are few builders out there that can match the quality/weight of my shell, I have seen the new Brigantine style shell you are talking about at the yard and have seen the quality of work by Anthony, everything is bespoke by both parties and is second to none. If you look at this years Crick results they did very well in the awards department. As I say you need to speak to recent customers to put your mind at rest and not take too much notice of OPINION'S of people who do not have a Jonathan Wilson/Anthony "M" bespoke boat
  8. Hi Anyone got the telephone number of "The Little Chimney Company" working around the Coventry Canal?? The one's that make the stainless steel chimneys, if so please can you post. Thanks
  9. Everyone knows the guy at Thorne(Bluewater) I doubt he'll get any takers if he is trying to sell, mind you we all had to laugh when the story was published in the local paper, for once we had something in common with the local fisherman a tall story "oh you should of seen the one that got away it was a monster" replied with "oh you should of seen the wave that I just survived it was as high as a house a monster" or tales to that effect over a pint in the local
  10. When the owner told me the story of how he's boat sank I had to ask myself "Do I look gullible or something" he said a freak wave hit him head on flooding the boat and killing the engine, once the wave had passed it came back and hit him again hence the sinking of the boat. Having been on that stretch of water a week before and using it regular I had to bite my lip to stop myself from laughing, why were no other boats affected as he was only a few hundred yards from Rawcliff bridge moorings??? maybe the insurers never paid out as he had altered the boat by making/cutting the air vents in the engine bay larger to stop his old engine from over-heating and with excessive weight on the stern deck(old engine parts) making the rear even lower in the water, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to do the math's(large holes close to water-line + weighted rear deck + choppy windy conditions + Dubious large wave = sunk boat = no insurance pay out)
  11. http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/advert.phtml?id=244638 looking at Shamrock for £139,000 and 80' by 15' looked like a bargain, but does the price reflect the cruising restrictions with the size? it's on it's way to Henley when I spoke to the owners.
  12. Booze Cruise-I'm sure the trip boat operator would be glad with that name, get it right Pike and that's the Waddington yard at Waddington lock, Victor used to be one of the biggest operators on the canal network once, even named the lock after him. Booze boat as you call it is the "A39" that was a coal carrier to Wigan, built around 1933 and features in "Colours of the cut"
