  1. Very badly--it disposes of solids after 3 or 4 flushes and they have to be helped on their way with a large pan of water It seems to be trying to suck but deposits around 50% of effluent back in the bowl
  2. Hi, Does anyone know of someone who will come out to service the above. Tried descaling and plunger but no joy. Seems to have been badly neglected. Any advice welcome. Thanks
  3. Hi all, I know I've asked before and not had much luck but if anyone knows of a carpenter who can do a good job and can travel to Hemel Hempstead I'd love to hear from them. Ta
  4. You've hit the nail on the head Martin!
  5. Thanks for all the posts both helpful and entertaining. I was looking for an easy way of doing a job that's a hassle to be honest and let's face it there isn't one. Think unzipping each component and subtly marking them for easy reassembly is the way to go. Got to admit the boat looks a lot sleeker without it!
  6. Hi Folks, Just removed the pram hood on my boat as I was going through my first lock solo and figured it would get in the way. Removed it from the frame in one piece and roughly folded it and put it in the cratch in my haste to get going along with the frame. Probably not a good idea. Is it best to unzip all the sections first and is there a tried and trusted method to reassembling it?
  7. In the Apsley area please?
  8. Hi all, The heading is my post really. I want a quality pullman dinette made and fitted to blend seamlessly with existing ash finish. One or two personalised touches needed. Thanks---you've never let me down yet!
  9. Thanks Chris--excellent site. Graeme
  10. Anyone able to recommend a good surveyor in the West Herts. area please? Thanks Pop.
  11. Apparently the boat cost £160K new but unfortunately MT went out of business. Seems this was the boat that caused their downfall. Shame---a lot of thought has gone into it. I'm in the market for my first boat and keeping an open mind but I fear an ally hull would get too much stick from a novice like me and I don't think I could live with having the engine in the foredeck---I like to hear what an engine's doing! It was the fit out that caught my eye and temporarily clouded my judgement. Oh--nearly forgot--I can't afford it anyway. Destined to become the Delorean of the canals I fear.
  12. Seen this for sale--lots to like but lots to be wary of I think. Opinions from those that know more than I do welcome. My link Pop
  13. It seems Coulter often fit vintage engines to new boats, see here: http://www.whiltonmarina.co.uk/used-narrowboats/details/2018.aspx I've been trying to find a contact number for them but the only one I found didn't work. They don't have a strong internet presence. Does anyone out there know how to get in touch with them? Cheers, Pop
  14. Thanks for the feedback folks---I've really started something here it seems! Here's the link to the ad Tony. http://www.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=233845 Poppetman
