  1. Thanks for that Howard, that's a good start to my question Roy
  2. Hello People, Am thinking of cruising the 'four counties' next month but am hearing from other boater that there some rough and 'unfriendly local natives' in some areas has anyone had any problems.
  3. Just been phoning round marinas for pricing boat blacking hull and one marina was telling me about a new product out about 2 years ago called Keel Paint, I never heard of it? he tell me after you prep your hull for painting like you do for blacking this keel paint easy to apply and better that the bitchium stuff I been using, you can apply as many coats as you like, it last a lot longer too, as good as 2 pack paint Has any one use this product and what your opinion on it. Dockgate
  4. you got the first pub from the canal called 'The odd fellow' and then there the Railway pub by Morrisons
  5. Just paid my club mooring fees for 12 months '£20' per foot PA, £800 for a 40foot boat, the marina is near Nantwich, they still got spaces for steel boats and GRP cruisers if anyone interested Roy
  6. yes I intend to pump the waste into 5 gallon containers then empty them down the elsan at the marina my boat is moored in 'the marina has no pump-out' I have just seen the pics of some idiot pump straight into a elsan which I have no intensions of doing, other marina near-by charge between £18 to £25 a pump-out am just trying to invest and save money on pump-outs
  7. can anyone tell me the most reliable manual or electrical system you can buy to pump out toilet on NB, and I don't mean go into a marina or C & RT service stations a long the canals, I have seen a boater pumping out toilet using a bellows type pump and wonder if you can buy these pumps or other system on the market.
  8. went to the boat to try and sort out problem with pump-out, made sure domestic batteries were fully charge problem remain the same, the tank has been pumped-out empty, the make is 'Tecma'control panel with 2 switch, the bowl fills to correct level 'switch 1' after use it fills again 'switch 2' but it fails to vacuum down to the tank, can anyone offer advice, roy
  9. the make of toilet is Silence 'Tecma', dont really know how the system works but will go to the boat on friday to try and sort it out,
  10. I not long purchase a a bigger boat with a pump-out toilet it work great til last week, its one of those 'vacuum' type, press button and it releases water into the toilet-pan, after doing a number 1 or 2 you press 2sd button which puts more water in the pan a couple seconds later its vacs the waste down, its the vac part of the system thats not working, Any ideas as to the problem ?? roy
  11. i take it maureen not living there has she moved out or past away? i think she moved into that cottage after the last war.
  12. Can anyone tel me how to clean fuel tank out, the tank is built in with the boat around the stern and the only access is through the 2 inch filling neck on the deck, am having minor problems with the engine i think through sediments etc that seem to clog-up my fuel filters and engine sdound a bit rough after running the boat for an hour or two, the boat was built 1988 so must have a build-up at bottom of the tank.....anyone got any ideas as the proceedure roy
  13. As i understand it BW own 6 foot both sides of the canal, when houses ar build that back onto the canal the fences are about 6 feet from edge of canal 'unless there been some agreement between builders and BW' to extend the boundary to the edge of the canal, and if you moor your boat at the end of your garden then BW mooring fee applies minus 10%, i think the same goes with the farm land.
  14. hi Yes... R&J Marine at Venetian marina (Ron & Joan) dont know the phone number off-hand. good luck with it Roy
  15. hi tony yes there are 2 fuel filters and i change the oil and filters about 2 weeks ago, i then top the fuel tank up with diesel fom the marina (have to say the tank was low) and what i think may have happened is as the tank was getting topped-up with the diesel it has disturb the sediment at the bottom of the tank so the sediments became 'airborne' if you like, i i then set off cruising for a couple hourd then the engine started to sound rough i stopped for the night, next day i start-up the engine and the problem had gone, i think the filters had done there job but i may have to change the filters again, its a Beta marine engine 3 cylinder 17HP, a thinking i might have to drain and clean out the fuel tank. Roy
