  2. Just like to point out the ecofan that BSP was using was one of the cheap Aldi ones Although I obviously told her it was massively expensive and dead posh and put a gold ribbon on it and everything

  3. I drilled and tapped mine. Was delighted when the pump started up after fitting, and has been running non stop since. ETA. I had to drill and tap, cos I couldn't get nuts on.

  4. I wouldn't think so, those who are looking for something to complain about make it their life's work rather than those of us who sometimes just have a bad day. Someone who randomly shouts off threats and expletives at someone they know nothing about isn't just 'having a bad day'.

  5. Well when I say gold....it was more like cardboard cut into strips, it looks goldish if you squint and its dark

  6. Gold is highly conductive, and is probably conducting the heat away from the ecofan, impairing its performance... Or possibly not.

  9. Yes, pos to the bulb, neg to the bulb fitting surround. Any suitable point. I drilled two little holes in that cap and then stuck some gunk around them when the lamp was fitted in place. Marineflex, Sikaflex, Stixall, I can't remember; whatever I had to hand. I used two short bits of wire finished with bullet connectors (one each way round) to mate with the boat wiring. The intention was that it would make it easier to remove when required. Plug-n-play!

  10. Have just got back from Cowley Lock with ref to the case in the tea room (Toll house) the locked display case holds a record book but not the one that was there some time back . The chap that leases the building said that the case & contents are part of the building & he does not have a key for the case or any other books or documentations on the premises he has had lots of people calling in on the belief that there are other record there but has been told that Uxbridge library hold some records

  15. Wow, what a lot of good information. Taken altogether it paints a real picture of what I need. I think I will get one of those Rule lopro 900 pumps. I did wonder about how to mount it and that has now been answered. Take the point about an auto one not working re battery drain etc and stuck floats. All stuff to bear in mind. Right, you are all now allowed to go back to the jokes......oh I see you already have. It's like herding cats you lot.

  16. Personally I think it should be up to the person on the receiving end of the insult to report it, or not. Don’t fall into the trap of being outraged on someone else’s behalf! Different people have very different thresholds of what they find upsetting and you can’t know it.

  24. The Ecofan may move some air but I contend that it moves very little air and for a very small distance. The idea of testing the fan with scent/perfume is interesting and might be verifiable. But a fart spreads throughout a room without fanning!

  25. It's a forum, it is for the expression of views, I'm expressing mine; you don't have to like them, read them or respond to them. You asked a mildly boat related question but phrased in a way which led me to wonder what would crawl out from under the rock if it was lifted. Some of us then gave it a kick to see what emerged - what we have seen isn't particularly edifying IMHO. Excuse me now, I've got to work on my petty insecure innuendoes, particularly on the spelling!

  27. Use the moon. That's what I did for my evening cruise yesterday, in the proper dark. I could even see the stars. Plus proper nav lights of course.

  28. The moderation of late has been first class. This I think is due to two things one being the present bunch of moderating bods are bloomin good at their thankless task unlike some past mods and the second reason being since the playground opened its doors many former members are no longer using this forum for various reasons. Keep up the good work please.

  29. I think that this will be meaningless to OP. Whilst the individual words are in English as a whole the sentence is meaningless, maybe punctuation and a re-ordering of the words would help. 1) If continuous cruising you do not need to have (or pay for a mooring), you can stop pretty much anywhere you like for up to 14 days, unless it is 'signed' for a shorter duration (typically 48 hours, for example), after the 14 days you must 'move-on' to somewhere else, where your time starts again.
