New floor...

Fitted the new solid oak flooring into Casper, which went well. Hindered by a surprise covering of snow outside which had also frozen overnight delaying work until it warmed up a bit...

Fitting the new stove...

Fitting the new stove went really well. I had already sorted the flue bends and I already had an extending flue, which really helped. The hard bit was removing the old flue, which was stuck in the roof collar. No amount of banging and tugging would remove it. We ended up removing the collar with flue still in, then hitting the flue with a sledge hammer until the collar just fell off...   The stove works well, it chucks out a good amount of heat and even with a fairly small fire the oven reache

Slight erosion down by my hut...

A bit worrying as my hut is behind these caravans, about 40 feet from the edge, though i'm on solid rock so should be ok... I nearly bought the van in the second picture..

Work on the brother's chalet...

Boat work has stopped for a while and been replaced with chalet work. My brother's chalet roof has always been a bit leaky and the pitch is rather low (flat in places!). Made a new roof frame with an increased pitch and fitted tile effect steel sheeting. We also moved the stove so the flue exits out the front wall rather than through the new roof. This means we don't have to worry about how to stop the flue leaking and the stove now sits opposite the settee, which is better.

Igloo...

I wanted to build a snowman but the daughter wanted to do an igloo. It ended up looking more like a gun emplacement!

1975 Raleigh Swing bike....

Just bought this bike, which i'll hide away and give to my daughter at xmas. It's an unusual bike in that the rear wheel steers. It doesn't look very easy to ride but at least the rear wheel can be locked in the straight position. I've not seen many of these about..

Sleepy Hollow's old, and too big, prop has gone to a new home..

The 22x22.5 prop which we removed from Sleepy Hollow as it was way too big for the engine has been sold. It is pleasing that the prop is going onto a replica star class boat built at Brinklow Boat Services, called Oberon. So it's being put to good use. My brother, or to be truthful his girlfriend, has cruised Sleepy Hollow about for a while with the smaller prop and he is very pleased with the result.

new little car...

With the Landy gone we needed some transport so I don't have to keep borrowing my Dad's car. Bought a little 1995 Peugeot 106 954cc for £425. Seems ok, came with 6 months tax, full mot and recently had a cambelt, water pump, exhaust and brakes. My daughter says it's the most boring car ever. I think it's close but i've had a Citroen zx.....     We'll keep a look out for a nice Landy while we drive this around..

made a trailer cover from an old tent...

Seem to have alot of old tents lying about so i've used one to make a trailer cover and frame. I cut and welded the steel tent poles which neatly made a frame. The cover was cut from the tent. it's old and thick canvas. Not too bad for effectively nothing. I had to make it this high to fit in my daughter's Raleigh Chopper which she is taking to a show at the weekend.

Engine room...

A bit of work on Sleepy Hollow. The engine room has been tidied, painted and some shelving fitted.     The one day the weather cleared, the 2 boats both had their roof painted. Sleepy Hollow has so far had 3 different colours on the roof so lets hope this one is the last.

Landy troubles...

Well, no one mentioned it so I guess no one on here noticed... BUT there is a major problem with the Landy. It's registration document dates it as 1965, but the Landy owner's club have informed me that Land Rover didn't start making the Lightweight military version until 1968 and that mine is more likely to date from between 1973-76. I did some research, a bit late I know, and they appear to be right, also a DVLA search on the reg number confirms that that reg didn't spend any time in the milita

Landy work...

Been doing a few jobs on my old Landy. Fitted a set of nice old number plates, fitted a drop down towing bracket and a standard 7pin electric socket. I moved the Nato hitch to the front bumper where there were already pre drilled hoes for it. I fitted to canvas hoops, which needed a bracket welding.. I bought an old ex army tent for £20 and have today been altering it to fit the back. It's nearly done in the pic, needs neatening a bit and i'll have to remove it tomorrow to stitch some tie down

A rather big trailer...

I bought an ex army trailer from only seeing a picture and the seller delivered it to my brother as he was close. I didn't get the sizes but the seller said it was a 3/4 ton trailer. From the picture it looked right. What I didn't realise is that the wheels are 38.5" in diameter so the trailer is actually rather big. Took this picture with a standard size jerry can to give an idea of scale...     It has a plate on it which says it's a Sankey cargo trailer, 3 ton. Vehicle number 9442. Give

The new vehicle...

Got a bit bored of the Pug 306 diesel, so it has been sold and i've bought this 1965 Landy Lightweight. Not sure how i'll cope with the difference in fuel consumption, but it's tax exempt (£200 less) and insurance was £150 less..It's also got full MOT whereas my Pug was about to run out of MOT and tax. It's probably the slowest vehicle ever...
