Warning to all boaters

Hi lovely people history give you the heads up and to tell you to be on your guard when moored at ladbrooke grove as I had an attempted intruder and disturbed him when I was woken up. However my Mate Sam had his boat broken into and all boaters were hit that same night. The police cought him but guess what he got bail and is known to hit the same areas over and over again.   Any way stay safe and say hello if you see me   Regards   Gary Total eclipse

Exchange Spanish house for narrowboat

Hi, We have a small house in Southern Catalonia, Spain which we are interesting in swopping (permanently) for a narrowboat. We live in 'real Spain' about 15 minutes outside the lovely town of Tortosa. The house has a living room with mezzanine, bedroom, shower room and kitchen/dinner. Our electricity is by solar and generator and our water is in a 15,000 litre cisterns. We have two and a half acres of land with olive, almond, carob and fig trees. The land is fairly flat,we have mountain views be

Yipee, I managed to charge up the starter battery and finally started the boat up, I was so excited it's was very smokey at first, its not been run for a while I don't think, I would say maybe even 6 months but sounds ok, maybe it just needs a service and a good run out...but it works, hurray...I'm so pleased...

November 2013. Almost a year after I started this.

I haven't been here for ages...sorry. Didn't realise I had so many followers. As I reported..I followed the Newcastle diet to the letter and essentially starved myself. This is dangerous..as has been said..but I did it. So..I expect people are wondering the outcome as it will soon be heading for a year. For me..its been amazing ! The initial results seemed good..But how did it shape up ? Well...the Newcastle diet did something.? Even though I started eating fairly normally..I didn't pile

Getting Him Started

Hi Welcome to my Blog, I've just bought my first Narrow Boat, I'm not a total virgin, many years ago I had a friend who owned a boat that I used to holiday on, up and down the Leeds Liverpool we went, I didn't appreciate it as much then as I guess I would now, but the fond memories stayed with me and finally after all this time I've bought my own... I started this post to log my progress through learning about all aspects of owning a canal boat and to be able to look back on what I've achieved

Thefts at sawley marina

Hi. Has anyone else had their boat broken into and things stolen whilst on sawley marina brokerage. We've had a perfectly sound boat broken whilst left unlocked by staff who did not check it was securely locked. We lost the cooker and a couple if smaller items. Because sawley wouldn't pay for a new cooker we had to get second hand one. Now they've failed it and looks like we are losing the buyer. And guess what sawley say it's our problem. ......

Exchange use of your barge for our luxury Vancouver penthouse

We seek to enjoy narrowboating again. We want to arrange it through an "exchange" of time in our luxury Vacouver penthouse for time on a barge.Exchanges need not be symaltaneous as we have a second home. We have made 14 successful exchanges, including one for a boat on the Shannon.   Any narrowboat owners in discussing an exchange should contact this Forum or email me at; lfairfield@shaw.ca.   Lorimer C. North Walsham & Dilham Canal Fund Raising

I have been given a massive number of early Waterways Worlds, 1970's to 1990's, (some in binders)with the aim that I could use them to help raise money for the North Walsham & Dilham Canal Trust towards the restoration of that canal. Anyone any idea of the best way of swopping them for cash?   Ivan Cane

Samsung smartphone committed to launching Tizen devices almost as soon as 2013 began

Samsung smartphone committed to launching Tizen devices almost as soon as 2013 began, but there has been little to show for its promise outside of a developer smartphone. To our relief, there are signs of sustained interest in the project: Techtastic has spotted a Samsung user agent profile for the Tizen-toting GT-i8805. The web code suggests that the company is playing it safe with its first wave of hardware for the OS, however. While the i8805 appears to support LTE, mentions of a 720p display

a next-gen Wolfson WM5110 audio chip for smartphones

What you're looking at above is a demo board carrying a next-gen Wolfson WM5110 audio chip for smartphones. This bit of silicon isn't in any market-ready handsets just yet, hence the DIY setup, but given Wolfson's well-cemented partnership with Samsung there's every chance this'll be the audio hub in the next Galaxy S, as well as potentially in other manufacturers' phones coming out in 2014.   One of the WM5110's headline features is the ability to handle high sample rate music tracks at 24-bi

When Samsung unveiled its first 4K Ultra HD TV at CES this year

When Samsung unveiled its first 4K Ultra HD TV at CES this year, it said other sizes would follow, both larger and smaller than the initial 85-inch version. Now it's apparently ready to fulfill part of that promise, announcing in Korea that 65- and 55-inch models will launch next month. Of course our next question is how these smaller models will compare to the $39,999 MSRP 85S9 UHD TV in price. Hopefully they'll follow the path blazed by Sony, which recently introduced models at that size with
