Would you believe it! This came up whilst on the canal so I didn't see it. I rebuild bosch dynastarts, I'm reworking a set of fields for one now, and that's more like necromancy than engineering!

I have a cute little "in situ" test procedure for dynastarts if your interested, and information for replacing the almost unobtainable regulator box.

Hi snibble, do you think it would be possible to let me have a copy of the information about replacing the regulator box as well please?

I'm replacing my Bukh DV10me single cylinder diesel at the moment and I've got right up to connecting the dynastart.

I've been supplied with a dynamo regulator and a fairly hefty relay, but I can't quite work out how the two should be connected to the rest of it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Ben Tullis

No problem. I've been working on this engine since May anyway.

Could you let me into the secret?

Wots a dynostart? :D

Half dynamo, half starter motor. Starts the engine via a belt, rather than a toothed gear you'd find on a proper starter motor.

And they're not terribly good at either, very much a compromise. I am posting this whilst my sore hands take a rest from winding a set of field coils for one 'cos you can't get the bits no more.

Here is a picture of the regulator. I can also post a picture of the dyastart itself if you'd like and/or the wiring diagram I have. The solenoid/relay has two small terminals and two big terminals, so I think I can work that out.

Snibble,

I would very much appreciate the dynostart test procedure. I'm working through electrical issues (seriously considering a before and after photo series on hacked up 40 year old wiring) where the battery does not charge properly.

thanks,

Paul

How's that then?

Snibble.Just discovered this forum and have signed on some days ago. I do not know a whole lot about electric etc.

I have a Bosch Dynostart plus Bosh alternator on a Bukh 10 engine.

Alternator not working. I am interested in your sketch diagram and would be greatful if you can let me know the spec of the replacement reg and perhaps explain the additional link

Best regards

Tom

Hello Tom.

I'll get the details of my regulator later on today and post them for you.

This post helped me a great deal and my DV10 has been running like a dream since then.

Cheers,

Ben

Here is that image I failed to link to properly last time.

It says on it: Durite 0-841-00

I can get a recent photo with the wiring on, but it might look a little messy.

Many thanks for that info and such a quick reply.

I spoke with the agent here in Irl for the durite reg you advised and was surprised when he got back to me saying it was discontinued. Can you advise where you got yours and perhaps I can try them,

Again Many Thanks...

Tom
