I used the rev counter on the fly wheel end of the shaft

(The coupling between the alternator and the engine is exposed and not covered or protected by a cover or any thing)

OK, you should be all good to go now. Give us a shout if you have any other problems with the engine when you've got it in use.

Depending on your experience is it capable to run a 3ton split air conditioner?

I don't know what a 3 ton split air conditioner is !

What is the air conditioning unit manufacturer's rated maximum input power in KW's, or horsepower ?

I looked it up

It is a 16200 btu mitsubishi split a/c unit

With a minimum ampacity of 16 amps -- ??

''With a minimum ampacity of 16 amps '' -- there is no such rating as "ampacity" - we need the maximum input rating, preferably in Watts or Kilowatts.

The specs pdf does not mention watts or horsepower

''Ampacity'' is NOT a rating for electrical power consumption.  As it says in your wikipedia link, it's an American measure of the maximum current (in Amps) a cable or machine will tolerate without damage. Power consumption and Amps are NOT the same thing.

All manufacturers of any sort of electrically powered equipment give a maximum input power rating -- usually in Watts or Kilowatts -- there will be a figure for that available from them for your air-con unit.

This is the specs pdf

mitsubishi_brochure.pdf

Which model/type have you got - there is a 16200 Btu model on page 9 with a rated power consumption (input power) of 1580 Watts (1.58 KW) which the SR2 will cope with easily, but it's specified as a 60 cycle machine and with the Lister governed to 1500 rpm running a close coupled alternator you will be running the air-con unit off 50 cycles AC.
