Towpath mooring south of Loughborough

Whilst I have been this way before I don't think I have stopped in this area, and I can't picture it. Are there any overnight morning possibilities an hour or two south of Loughborough?

If that's an hour or two cruising, there's plenty. 

 

Barrow on Soar has mooring above Barrow Deep and 48 hour VMs a liitle further along near Barrow Boating. 

Limited mooring at Mountsorrel but it's close to the pub and village. 

There's space above Sileby lock but it's a long walk to the village.

The section just North of Pillings Flood Lock always has a few boats moored on the armco. Nice countryside within earshot of the railway and not much else.

There is also space below Sileby Lock. Sileby Mill is a useful stop for fuel, gas, pump out and chandlery. Beyond Sileby there is usually space for a couple of boats above Cossington Lock and loads of space above Junction lock.

If you are going on through Leicester there are new pontoons north of the West Bridge at Friars Mill, they are secure. They are not yet in any guide book. Birstall is a useful place for stocking up on provisions - decent sized Coop about 400m from the moorings.

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately today's rain has throw the plan out a bit as I was just too wet and cold (I know soft) to carry on so we have stopped early to the north of Loughborough.

Loughborough is an excellent town to visit .

We will be through it and on to Leicester tomorrow assuming the rain goes away, I have been there by car before though.
