That's disappointing but it sounds a bit like the "manyana"  way of life in the remoter parts of the Highlands. No excuse for bad manners though

But without the sense of urgency ....

After a very nice lunch stop at Dores to meet Liams mum we have moved on again to find some shelter for a BBQ tonight.

It doesn't look it from the pictures but it was pretty choppy on the anchorage.

Had a slight mishap on the loch when Cal threw an impeller mid loch. No problem though. We just drifted in 300 odd feet of water whilst Liam fixed it.

The lifeboat wasn't for us. They were just checking in on their new station next to the moorings.

Enjoy the canal - we did when we were on it a few weeks ago. Be prepared to moor stern in below the locks at  Fort Augustus it can be quite busy. Showers there are good as are the ones at Banavie. Sorry we can't help on pub reccomendations we tried to eat out in Fort Augustus and found everywhere full with an  hours wait for a table. There is a good butchers there.

We went on the service train to Mallaig from Banavie - it was a lovely ride with time to explore Mallaig before returning.

Great photos. Very different locations to last week when we saw you at the Pyewipe Inn Lincoln.

Enjoy your Highland adventure. Our last non-boating trip up there in October was to Oban to visit my godfather. We hope your blessed with the same weather that we enjoyed.

We plan to visit Oban whilst We are out on the West coast.

We are meeting up with Liams mum again next weekend so Oban seems a sensible place to do that.

The weather has been better than we expected so far.

Today we have another day on Loch Ness to play with. Plan is to head across to Foyers to see the falls, then maybe Dores again for lunch. Visit the castle, then back here to Urquhart for another evening and walk into town to grab something to eat.

We were up fairly early this morning when the hire boaters were up and about. So we had an early breakfast and had a run to Foyers to check out the falls of Foyer before having a steady trot back to Urquhart Harbour.  We had a walk into the town we can not pronounce fora few beers.

Will head back to the harbour later to fend off the fresh hire boaters who have this afternoon picked up their boats.

Think we have picked the worst berth for being clobbered as the wind is pushing them our way. But it was the most convenient for us getting on and Off!

If you're going to Oban and enjoy seafood, you must try the Sea Food Shack. It's fantastic value for money. Eat out, or take away. We had a great platter to share

Have you tried mooring on the jetty underneath the castle? It's pretty inconspicuous and most hire boats seem to avoid it.

We used it in our hire boat!20160515_094227.jpg.472025d12f5c9529c37eddc9c16bcf05.jpg

We got everyone in eventually with very few incidents!

We were waiting for the sun to go down last night but it was still light at 11.30pm!

And it was coming up again at 3.00am!

Off to Fort Augustus this morning.

If when you get there you cant find the lock keepers I would look behind the museum. They had been contacted to let them know we were on our way down. It took us 40 minutes to find them and then, even though the locks were set for a decent the bastids brought a crane platform up from the bottom which eventually moored opposite us at the top. The whole event took about 2.5 hours and meant we had to moor at the bottom overnight rather than risk crossing Loch Ness.

We know it is going to be busy at the locks. Most of the hire boats here are heading that way. But we are in no rush. We will let them sort themselves out and we will go up whenever. Doesn't matter if it is tomorrow for us to get through. We are staying there tonight anyway.

Had a flat calm run across Loch Ness today. We are now moored in the lock cut for the evening.

We have decided to let the hire boats through the locks today and we will go through tomorrow.

We both can not believe what a tourist trap this place is. There is not much here but everyone is a tourist. Not a bad thing by any means.

Pleased you got there ok,the last time I saw you I thought you were being towed down either the witham or fossdyke,

you could have borrowed the 4 trak,  it's marginally better than a land rover ,well it's Japanese anyway ,have a good trip,

We broke down in the Trent a few weeks back and were towed back to BurtonWaters. Easy fix just a £2.60 relay!

I hadn't realised that the hire company "Le Boat" operated in Britain.

Fort Augustus to Loch Oich today.

There was a long queue for the locks at Fort Augustus and we were lucky to get in on the first locking as we are a small boat. Some won't have got up the flight yet!

Loch Oich is very pretty.
