Tacet
There didn't seem much wrong with the top gates when we went through, in 1973.
MoominPapa
The IWA's infantile campaign about the East Anglian waterways is starting to have bad consequences. I've had a least two conversations with people who reacted to my suggestion that the Nene/Middle Level/Gt Ouse are great destinations with "but I heard there are big problems down that way; don't want to get stuck". Yes, Welches Dam is closed, as are a few other very obscure corners, but apart from that, the system is very much open for boating. It's not even like Welches Dam gives you access to very much: a couple of miles through fields on one side and a weedy drain ending in a tidal sluice that gets you to the same place that Well Creek and Salters Lode does on the other.
