Where to get bulb for rear navigation light?

My narrowboat has a white light on the back. Unfortunately, the bulb for it broke so I am trying to find a new one but am having no luck (having searched online and in Halfords).

The bulb should have a metal cap on each end but, as you can see from this photo, one cap is missing (lost):

The bulb is approx 40mm long and the caps are concave at the end - as you can see here:

Does anyone know what this type of bulb is called / where to get one from?

Thank you,

James

To meet the collision regulations you cannot simply replace a incandescent bulb with a led bulb as the angles of beam will be wrong and maybe the visible distance will be shorter.

For a side light expect the brightness to be totally wrong as led (even white) have very narrow colour spectrum peaks which are unlikely to coincide with the coloured filter pass bands.

If your navigation lights were supplied with led bulbs you will need identical replacements to maintain the certification.

Well, they are called festoon bulbs, but  most don't have concave ends.  This LED one does though.

The problem is that LED bulbs in 'filament bulb fittings' do not comply with the regulations and will invalidate your insurance.

You can only use LED bulbs in purpose designed LED Navigation light fittings.

It may well be that you do not need navigation lights (if on a canal) - however if you are on waters that do need them then they MUST comply.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has issued a Guidance Note highlighting these problems, and a warning not to use LED white replacement bulbs in equipment designed for filament bulb use.
