OK. Boat comes in for some booked work and the usual ..."Can you have a look at...."

Customer issue 1 "we have lots of water in the bilges all the time"

cruiser stern with no rear covers, deck channels recently cleared, but drain channels completely blocked. No rope in stern packing, just lots of grease. 

Customer issue 2, "we have no 240v, the inverter cuts out as soon as we turn it on and we think the alternators are faulty" "cant work it out as we have two new(1 week old) batteries"

on opening the domestic battery bank we see.........

battery A (OLD) connected to inverter, battery B (old) and C (new) connected to alternator and battery charger, battery D (new) connected to......

 

can anybody see anything wrong with this battery installation? :-)

(hint, the starter battery is on the other side of the engine bay and in good condition)

Series connection, subject to weakest link in chain. Hang on need another coffee can't see well on little screen.

 

Same concl. as Bizzard. Invertor connected to one old shagged battery. No way of charging first in more ways than one.

is this supposed to be all one battery bank ? The first battery appears to be not part of the bank? Would be better if possible, if positive take offs all on batt 1 and negatives earths on batt 4 ...................given missing link  cables also  added.

Also all batteries in bank best being replaced at one time.
